This past weekend, the Corey Helford gallery presented the work of both David Stoupakis and Tom Bagshaw. Titled Walking Within These Shadows, Stoupakis’ exhibit displayed artwork that embraces a dark sensibility mixed with a haunting sense of realism. Master of the dark arts, David Stoupakis, will be returning to the Corey Helford this Saturday night, August 6th, to open his third solo exhibition there. Entitled Walking Within These Shadows, the new body of work will be more personal in nature drawing from his life experiences and featuring a more somber color palette. One of the highlights of the Scope Art Fair this year was the booth from LA’s Corey Helford Gallery. We just wanted to let you know about an interesting project on display this October at La Luz de Jesus – the Lowbrow Tarot Project curated by Aunia Kahn. Earlier this month, Last Rites Gallery in New York hosted “Lead Poisoning”, a group show that included a surprisingly strong list of participants. Artists like David Stoupakis, Eric White (interviewed), Glenn Barr, Ron English (featured), Chet Zar, Esao Andrews (interviewed), Chris Mars, Greg Simkins (interviewed), Robert Williams, Brian Despain (interviewed) and many others contributed drawings to exhibition. Following on from the fantastic preview evening last Friday, Corey Helford Gallery’s “Art from the New World” continued to draw in the crowds on Saturday afternoon for the public opening consisting of a guided tour of the exhibition hosted by the inimitable Gary Baseman and a meet-and-greet signing session with the artists.
