David Stoupakis was asked recently to work on the limited editions of Joe Hill’s The Fireman book and boy did he deliver. Working in more color than he usually does, the New York-based painter used his artistic vision to beautifully bring to life scenes from the story about a worldwide pandemic of spontaneous combustion. The dust jacket, slipcase, and interior illustrations from Stoupakis are featured on the lettered tray case edition (run of 26 – sold out) and limited slipcased edition (run of 1000) copy of the book, […]

Sample some more of what to expect in the images below… Participants include: SHAG, Sas […]
This Saturday night, March 8th, the Last Rites in New York will be presenting a group exhibition where 40 artists were asked to interpret the gallery’s namesake. The ancient ritual which dates back centuries in Catholicism continues to be practiced in modern times on those about to die and has been a concept seen in the work of many artists in the past. Appropriately, this show will inaugurate a new location for the showspace (325 W 38th St #1 NYC 10018) so add it to your list of […]

Last weekend in New York, the Last Rites Gallery hosted an opening for David Stoupakis (above) and Matthew Bone (directly below) as they unveiled all new paintings. Stoupakis’ dark imagery was apparent as Ashes To Sorrow explored somber fairy-tale like settings rendered beautifully by the locally-based artist. Bone brought a set of works collectively entitled Raised By Wolves with him that combines his love for pop culture and girls, apparently the more drenched the better. More opening photos below… Discuss this show here. Discuss David Stoupakis here. Discuss Matthew Bone here.
Tomorrow night in New York, Last Rites will be continuing their devotion to the dark arts with new work from David Stoupakis (above) and Matthew Bone. Stoupakis will be putting a new collection of paintings on display collectively entitled Ashes To Sorrow featuring his haunting imagery and grim fairytale-like details. The show, his first solo at the gallery, is a continuation of his previous body of work – Walking with These Shadows. He states “It is a further journey for me to better understand loss, the unknown, what lies beyond and to […]
Fans of heavy metal and art will have a chance to attend a exhibition where their two loves get together for a rare intersect. This past weekend, the Corey Helford gallery presented the work of both David Stoupakis and Tom Bagshaw. Titled Walking Within These Shadows, Stoupakis’ exhibit displayed artwork that embraces a dark sensibility mixed with a haunting sense of realism. What’s interesting about his latest show is that he understands how to tell well-developed stories and moments of personal reflections through the use of the canvas. Whether it’s two female characters sitting down in a somber mood or a group of skeleton-like figures moving ahead, the paintings […]

Stoupakis will be showing alongside UK-based digital artist Tom Bagshaw. Discuss David Stoupakis here.
One of the highlights of the Scope Art Fair this year was the booth from LA’s Corey Helford Gallery. From the moment we stepped foot in area, we noticed a plethora of art from some AM’s favorites like as Luke Chueh, D*Face, Chloe Early, Ron English, Natalia Fabia, Korin Faught, Eric Joyner, Brandi Milne, Sylvia Ji and Shag. The lux booth design was inviting as pimp couches and rugs invited spectators to take a load off to stare at a great preview of artwork for the […]
