Streets: D*Face

Originally thought to be an April Fool’s joke, United Kingdom street artist D*Face had the last laugh when he released a 20 pound sterling note remixed in his signature 80’s punk and skate inspired style on over ten digital billboards throughout the city in protest of the G-20 London Summit. Were the advertisements paid for or did D*Face hack into the computer systems controlling the billboards? A message on D*Face’s website reads: “No fools day. Where there’s a will there’s a way. Catch them before […]

Teaser – Black Rat Press Annual Print Show – London

If last year’s event is anything to go by, the Black Rat Press Annual Print Show in London, opening on Saturday, 21st February will be worth checking out. The chance to see printmaking demonstrations, ask the printers questions, as well as check out new editions, trial proofs, hand colored rarities, and other treats from the Black Rat Press’ stable of artists could well make this one rather special. Artists involved include Matt Small (above), D*Face, Sweettoof, Brian Adam Douglas, Gaia, Lucas Price, Nick Walker, Blek […]

Black Rat Press @ the London Art Fair

As previously mentioned, Black Rat Press exhibited at the London Art Fair where they showed works by Swoon, Matt Small, Lucas Price, Asha Zero, Brian Adam Douglas, D*Face and Nick Walker.  As expected, Walker’s print sold out, but there were actually some pretty good originals available.  In particular, Swoon’s and Matt Small’s pieces were quite strong.  Take a look after the jump.

Black Rat Press will be exhibiting at the London Art Fair (Jan 13-18) where they will be showing works by Swoon, Matt Small, Lucas Price, Asha Zero, Brian Adam Douglas, D*Face and Nick Walker.  Also garnering significant interest is the new print “The Empires’s State” by Nick Walker from his “The Morning After” series.  The release will on January 13th (6 pm) at the fair, but there will also be an online option for those who are overseas and can’t make it. Openings: Attention Spam @ Adapta Gallery

A little late news, but “Attention Spam” opened last month in Hong Kong at the launch of Adapta Gallery (A collaboration between Schoeni Art Gallery Hong Kong and UKAdapta London). This group show featured the works of Cyclops, David Bray, Vesna Parchet as well as Word to Mother and D*face (seen above). Adapta Gallery hopes to bring more exposure of urban art scene to what we think will be a very receptive audience in Hong Kong.

Openings: White Noise @ Black Rat Press

Black Rat Press’ annual group show “White Noise” will open tonight featuring D*Face, Nick Walker, Blek Le Rat, Lucas Price, Asha Zero, Matt Small and Brian Adam Douglas. Luckily for us and our readers, we were able to see some advance photos from the special preview event last night. We love how lighting effects and ambience really highlighted each piece of art nicely. Some favorites as well as all the photos after the jump.

Preview: Clowns! @ Corey Helford Gallery

What do you get when you have an enormous group of talented artists take their own spin on a modern day “clown”? Well, for their newest show Clowns!, Corey Helford assembled a diverse group and let them loose on this simple theme and the results? A veritable carnival of visual delights! How often does one see the likes of Dave Kinsey, Shag, Audrey Kawasaki, Gary Baseman work off the cuff with a subject that is foreign to their repertoire? If that wasn’t enough, Corey Helford […]

Preview: D*Face + Obey @ Magda Danysz

This weekend, two of street art’s best, Shepard Fairey and D*Face, invade La Ville-Lumiere (that’s Paris) for a show at the lovely Galerie Magda Danysz. Looks like Mr. Obey will be showing mostly larger HPMs and album covers, giving European collectors a crack at some images from his recent, instantly sold-out San Fran show; D*Face will show some mixed media works and prints. If you are in Paris, check out the vernissage on Saturday, or peruse the show at your leisure sometime before October 25. […]
