Streets: D*Face (Paris)

Recently in the 13th District of Paris, D*Face (interviewed) was invited in by Galerie Itinerrance to paint a mural as part of the open-air museum featuring works from 28 street artists. Entitled Love Won’t Tear Us Apart, the new wall features the British artist’s distinctive cartoonish style and as well as his skull & wings imagery. Painted through several days of stormy weather, the multi-story high piece will be a welcome addition to the skyline. Photo credit: The artist, Galerie Itinerrance, and Spraying Bricks. As a follow up to the Warpaint mural he painted for The Unexpected event in Fort Smith, Arkansas last month, D*Face (interviewed) added a companion installation at the east entrance to downtown. The creation of the five larger than life arrows from repurposed telephone poles was underwritten by the Choctaw Nation, with the Oklahoma-based tribe also giving the British artist some historical context as well as making sure the design of the arrows was authentic. Streets: D*Face // The Unexpected 2016 (Fort Smith) – Part I

Following up on a mural he painted last year for the The Unexpected event in Fort Smith, Arkansas, D*Face (interviewed) returned for a companion piece. For this year’s edition (curated again by Just Kids), the British artist painted a Indian warrior pulling back on her bow which pairs nicely with 2015’s cowboy themed piece. Last month in Culver City, D*Face (interviewed) painted a new mural near the always busy 10 Freeway (seen best as you drive by the 10 freeway headed east passing Robertson Blvd) entitled Lovestruck. The British artist was in town to support the 10 year Anniversary Show at Corey Helford Gallery but took the time to leave something for his fans in the greater LA area. For a recent mural in Manhattan, D*Face (interviewed) decided to go with one of his iconic Lichtenstein-inspired women holding two of his signature D-dogs. Sponsored by The L.I.S.A Project, the piece span several stories high in Soho while leaving some existing graffiti that the British artist remember from 20 year’s past. Releases: D*Face – “Beethoven Bust”

D*Face (interviewed) has been working on a new vinyl toy recently that takes the face of Beethoven and remixes it with his distinctive imagery. The subverted image of the famous musician and composer features the British artist’s famous wings and will retail for about $400 come June through the Japanese toy company Medicom. Basel Week Miami ’15 / Showing: SCOPE

One of the first satellite fairs we hit during Basel Week Miami was SCOPE Miami, situated nicely in their pavilion on the beach off Ocean Drive. Celebrating its 15th anniversary edition with 120 international exhibitors from 22 countries and 57 cities, the fair had something for everyone including this Suck Face bronze from D*Face seen above and the Felipe Pantone installation seen directly below. Last month in Mexico City, D*Face (interviewed) painted a mural for All City Canvas entitled Catrina, of course inspired by the “Day of the Dead” celebration. The piece located at Av. Cuauhtémoc 273 in the Roma neighborhood is the last mural of the year for the CC Global Series, made in collaboration with British Council Mexico as part of the Dual Year UKMX 2015.
