POW! WOW! ’14 / Openings: RVCA x TWSL – “#RVCATWFSL”

Last night in conjunction with POWWOW ’14, RVCA & The Seventh Letter teamed up to put on an exhibition featuring some of the graffiti & street artists they are affiliated with. Headlining our Rewind feature this week is a look at the incredibly intricate and ornate sculptural assemblages by Kris Kuksi. El Mac x Prada – “In the Heart of the Multitude” Project

Last month during Milan Fashion Week, American artist El Mac was asked by Prada to participate in the In the Heart of the Multitude project. Guided by themes of beauty, femininity, and power, the LA-based street muralist created three murals that were used as the backdrop for the Spring/Summer ’14 Prada Women’s fashion show (see video below). Collectively, he entitled them Sueños y Polvo de Estrellas (Dreams and Stardust) and shared that they were inspired by the work of Alphonse Mucha. Discuss El Mac here.

It’s time again for another Streets World Roundup where we review some the public art that you may have missfed recently. Leading things off is this sweet new mural form Phlegm. The Sheffield-based artist painted this Welsh Dragon in Roath, Cardiff for the Empty Walls Festival organized by the Modern Alchemists in Wales. You can check out more photos here. Streets: El Mac (Los Angeles)

After returning from Denmark where he worked on several murals and a solo exhibition, El Mac recently took time to paint a wall in Little Armenia. Arranged for by FX, the new piece will help promote their series, The Bridge, for several months before reverting to another beautiful addition to the urban landscape in Los Angeles. As we previously shared with you, El Mac is currently in Denmark for a show that opened tonight at Galerie Wolfsen. Along with an impressive array of new paintings created with his signature spray technique, the LA-based street muralist also gifted the city of Aalborg with a new public piece to enjoy. Videos: New Adobe Campus

For artists out there who read AM or those in the design field, Adobe is definitely a company they are familiar with for their series of computer programs including Photoshop and Illustrator. Rapt Studio, who designed the interiors, recently invited artists in to the Adobe campus in Lehi, Utah to do installations and murals including a piece from El Mac that we recently featured.
