From the 26th of March until the 10th of April, the Belgian coastal city of Ostend hosted The Crystal Ship festival on its streets. Better known for their beer festival, the town instead gifted their public space to world-renowned artists to create works through the city. Streets: Ella & Pitr (Norway)

After successfully painting what was billed as the world’s largest outdoor mural (covered) for last year’s NuArt Festival, French artists Ella & Pitr recently returned to Norway to create couple of new pieces in and around Stavanger. This time, they painted another giant in the center of the city, taking a tumble in a dilapidated four-story building. The harsh weather conditions and rough setting didn’t stop these dedicated artists from creating another landmark mural in Norway’s oil capital and street art mecca. After this, they continued to nearby Sola […]

Streets: Ella & Pitr (Puerto Rico)

Continuing their ongoing series of sleeping giants murals, art duo Ella & Pitr recently finished a massive new piece in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Depicting a little baby peacefully sleeping with his mother by its side, the mural was created with the help of locals that volunteered to help the project. Ella & Pitr were invited by Santurce Ley Festival to paint one of their famous giant works in the Caribbean. With this series, the French artists turn rooftops, parking lots, and other large areas into cramped sleeping […]

For this edition, each participating artist received a wall of the gallery to paint, adding sort of a mural exhibition along with showing smaller works. Each of the five murals measuring approximately six meters long by four […]

NuArt ’15: Video Recap

The 15th anniversary NuArt Festival in Stavanger, Norway, concluded early this month and by all accounts was a huge success. NuArt ’15 / Openings: Nuart Exhibition @ Tou Scene

After short speeches by festival organizers and benefactors, as well as the town’s mayor, the 2015 NuArt exhibition officially opened Saturday night at Tou Scene in Stavanger, Norway. The various tunnels of the sprawling arts complex of Tou Scene, a former brewery, provided the perfect venue for Nuart’s roster of artists to show off their creativity, style and imagination beyond what they are able to do on the streets. Together, the artists transformed the space with installations, murals, and photo and video projection to create […]

NuArt ’15 / Streets: Ella & Pitr – “Lilith & Olaf”

One of the highlights of this year’s NuArt Festival is the completion of what is billed as the world’s largest outdoor mural in Klepp, just outside of Stavanger. Created by French artists Ella & Pitr along with a crew of some 30 volunteers, the 21,000 square meter mural was completed before the festival officially started. Painted on a rooftop of the Block Berge Bygg building, this project was the first in a three-year relationship between the festival and the company. It was slated to take two […]
