Moving into a new gallery space in Chelsea, Freight + Volume brought together a fresh group show to christen in the new year. With art from Damian Stamer, Doug Fishbone, Tatiana Berg, Kristen Schiele (interviewed) and Eric White (interviewed), the exhibition gave us good vibes and even better visuals from classically painted works to unique video installations. New York Gallery Freight + Volume open their 2011 season with a group show this week featuring Kristen Schiele (interviewed) and Eric White (interviewed). Haymaker also features Tatiana Berg, Doug Fishbone and Damian Stamer, with the curatorial theme focusing on commerce within art. AM caught the opening of “Family Tradition” at TT Underground Gallery. Curated by Ron English, the group show re-imagines one of the classic mob sagas through the eyes of art. Last Saturday, the long time running publication BLAB! completed its makeover with their reoccurring show at Copro Gallery – this time as BLABWORLD. The renamed anthology of comics, illustration, and graphic design from Monte Beauchamp focused on thematic works based on “scenes from THE HEREAFTER” and a nice slate of artists obliged with their unique interpretations. Earlier this month, Last Rites Gallery in New York hosted “Lead Poisoning”, a group show that included a surprisingly strong list of participants. This past weekend, AM caught the opening of the Date Farmers, Eric White (interviewed), Nicola Verlato and Fulvio Di Piazza at Jonathan Levine Gallery.
