Better known for large scale outdoor murals typically depicting playful and sometimes sinister looking animals, Italy-based artist Ericailcane brought his artwork indoors with the opening of his show “We Were Living In the Woods” at Fifty24SF. It looks like Erica Il Cane has started to transform the Fifty24SF space into a personal playground for his whimsical characters with paintings as well as murals inside and outside of the gallery. Rhinomilk (AM:SF) visited the Italian street artist and took some pics of the setup for you to peruse ahead of the opening of his show “We Were Living In The Woods” (previewed) tomorrow night. StolenSpace held a pretty special closing party this week for the Original Cultures show, the opening of which we attended a couple of weeks back. Will Barras, DEM and Ericailcane took to the icy cold streets of London for an outdoor painting event to conclude the gallery show. StolenSpace’s official start to 2010 has arrived in the shape of “Original Culture” featuring an Anglo-Italian line up of Ericailcane, DEM and Will Barras. In a continuing effort to increase European-Japanese artistic relations, the non-profit modern performing art organization, Original Cultures, has just released their latest project starring visual artists Will Barras (UK), Ericailcane (IT) and DEM (IT), as well as musical artists Om Unit (UK), Tatsuki (JP) and Tayone (IT). Over the course of four days last June in Bologna, these six artists collaborated, albeit separately, on the visual and musical aspects of this video. FAME Festival – A Tour Through the Monastery

After months of following the goings on at Italy’sÂ FAME Fest (see our coverage here), AM decided to take a trip to Grottaglie to find out if all those pieces were really as incredible as they appeared. Things have been busy over at FAME Festival since we last gave a report (see our coverageÂ here). Ericailcane has finished up a new mural, Judith Supine has put up his first piece, and JR and Sam3 have created some fantastic new prints (see JR’s above). Fans of the French artist may recall the original piece from the “Self Portraits” show at Circle Culture (previewed and covered). We recently brought you news of Ericailcane (here) and Word to Mother (here) painting murals at FAME Festival (full coverage here). Ericailcane, one of the stars of last year’s event, has returned toÂ FAME Festival (our coverage here). This newly finished mural is very touching and is an interesting continuation of Blu’s statement about the pollution that has devastated Grottaglie in recent years. AM was in attendance Saturday night for the opening of Italian street artist Ericailcane’s first Los Angeles solo show entitled “Man is the Bastard” (previewed) at Carmichael Gallery.
