Travelogue: Kelsey Brookes – RVCA in Hawaii

Recently RVCA rented four houses on the North Shore in Hawaii and put an eclectic group of people together including Julian Schnabel, Pat Tenore, Lindsay Lohan, and Estevan Oriol among many others. One of those also invited was painter Kelsey Brookes who took advantage of the setting and time to do things he loved – eat, surf, and paint. Openings: Eriberto and Estevan Oriol – “Like Father Like Son Exhibition” @ Carmichael Gallery

A couple weeks ago, the Carmichael Gallery hosted an exhibition from influential photographers and Angelenos Eriberto and Estevan Oriol. The retrospective featured select images from the father and son duo and documented their well-known love affair with LA Latino street life, street art, and graffiti with decades of work under their belt. Preview: Eriberto & Estevan Oriol – “Like Father, Like Son” @ Carmichael Gallery

On the first of October, the Carmichael Gallery will welcome father and son duo, Eriberto and Estevan Oriol, to Culver City for an exhibition together. Openings: “Made In Polaroid” @ Phillips de Pury

AM recently attended the star studded charity art show Made In Polaroid held at Phillips de Pury. The benefit was a one night auction that featured 50 works created by the 50-50-50 project using Polaroid’s mobile printer. All proceeds went to support Free Arts NYC. Openings: Square Enix – “Deux Ex: Human Revolution” @ Wooster St. Social Club

Square Enix and the Wooster Street Social Club presented a mini charity exhibition recently centered around the video game Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Artists such as Estevan Oriol, Sam Flores, Patrick Martinez and Jeremy Fish created game themed posters for the event, each with a small edition of 20 with proceeds benefiting art education. Teaser: “Pens and Needles” @ London Miles

Coming up later this month, February 25th to be exact, the London Miles Gallery will be hosting a group show based thematically on tattoos and their associated paraphernalia. Entitled “Pens and Needles”, the exhibition will feature photographs, original stencils from tattoos, paintings and live tattooing and includes artist (fine art and tattoo artists) Shawn Barber, Estevan Oriol, and Tom Bagshaw. It certainly sounds like a night for good art, especially if you are into the culture.
