Openings: Kembra Pfahler x E.V. Day – “GIVERNY” @ The Hole

The Hole Gallery continues to push the edge as their latest collaborative project between E.V. Day and Kembra Pfahler opened up this past Friday to a packed house. The title GIVERNY references impressionist legend Claude Monet’s estate located in Giverny, where E.V. Day stayed during her Munn Artist Residency. Inspired by the lily padded ponds located on the estate, E.V. invited Pfahler to the actual garden to shoot the photos in this exhibition. This past weekend, AM stopped by to catch a fresh exhibition at Martha Otero Gallery. As explained in our preview, the curiously titled Oniomania means “to compulsively buy”. José Parlá, whose artwork is rarely exhibited in Los Angeles, will soon provide the West Coast with a spectacular visual treat as Martha Otero will feature his massively-sized (42″ by 116.5″) Flux in their Legal Tender group exhibition. As AM was perusing the various booths at Art Los Angeles Contemporary, we ran into a painting by a instantly recognizable artist, lusted over by many a street art collector.
