Jonathan Chapline recently unveiled a unique exhibition entitled Virtual Window, which was staged at the Hawkins Ferry House, built to display the namesake’s collection of modern art on the shores of Lake St. Clair. Streets: Shepard Fairey – “Voting Rights Are Human Rights” (Milwaukee)

Shepard Fairey (interviewed) recently completed a new mural in Milwaukee entitled Voting Rights Are Human Rights. Created in collaboration with local artists Tyanna Buie, Niki Johnson, Tom Jones, Claudio Martinez, and Dyani Whitehawk, the wall brings attention to voter suppression, something especially prevalent in Wisconsin which often targets communities of color. Painted on the side of the Colby Abbot Building in downtown, the piece’s central figure is based on a mid-60’s civil rights march photo by Steve Shapiro. Learn more about the project here. Streets: Conor Harrington // London Mural Festival

Right on the heels of a recently finished mural from D*Face, Conor Harrington (interviewed) has completed his contribution to the first ever London Mural Festival. Touching on themes of nationalism, the Irish-born artist goes big with his familiar flag and colonial imagery in Greenwich (71 Trafalgar Rd, SE10 9TS) with this new wall. A few weeks ago, Simone Subal Gallery in New York opened a new show from Emily Mae Smith entitled Kin. Much of the American artist’s reoccurring motifs can be seen in the new work – the anthropomorphic broom, teeth, references to the female form, the bespectacled face – carefully chosen imagery that has made appearances in her painting practice for the last decade. Felipe Pantone – “INTR3PID” Carbon Cub Airplane

Felipe Pantone recently unveiled the INTR3PID, an adventure aircraft he wrapped with his signature use of colors gradients, geometrical patterns and Op Art elements. The Carbon Cub lightweight airplane is manufactured by Washington-based Cub Crafters, the design of which has been in the works for over a year from the Spanish artist. Last weekend in Cognac, France, Cai Guo-Qiang livestreamed a colorful daytime explosion event on the Charente to honor the universal values of resilience, courage, and hope in the face of the global pandemic. Recently in the Sandvika, Norway, Xenz was invited in to create a delightful new installation on some concrete columns under a railway bridge featuring his distinctive birds and butterflies. Banksy Funded Refugee Rescue Boat

As an outspoken critic of EU policies towards the migrant crisis, Banksy has decided to take matters into his own hands. Redirecting some of the proceeds from his art sales, the elusive artist has purchased a former French Navy boat and converted it to a rescue boat for refugees in the Mediterranean (now captained by Pia Klemp and crewed by a team of rescue professionals drawn from across Europe).
