Streets: REVOK x ROID (London)

Two gifted graffiti artists and MSK brothers, REVOK and ROID recently collaborated on this piece in East London. If you recall, they recently opened a show together in Los Angeles (covered), as well as joined forces (along with RIME) for another piece in Detroit. Coming off an incredible mural unveiled during Miami’s 2011 Art Basel week (coverage), MSK/AWR and 7th Letter graffiti writer Risky is back to conquer yet another large scale mural. This time however he’s working in his backyard of Los Angeles where he is currently painting a wall measuring 120 feet wide and about 60 feet tall. Set up by L.A. After bringing you photos a new political and provocative mural form Blu about a week ago, here is another set of pics of another mural painted by the Italian street savant in Buenos Aires. This time around, the piece on the side of a building depicts an an image of the globe slowing disintegrating like a jigsaw puzzle with the pieces being interconnecting humans. Studio Visit / Streets: Tilt

AM was fortunate to visit French graffiti artist TILT in his studio in Toulouse as he prepared for multiple shows in London at POW, Singapore and Manila, and to follow him across the streets. When not painting graffiti on naked “bubble girls” across the world, the self declared “graffiti fetichist” leverages his fun and colourful bubble letters to represent iconic portraits, shoes and flags. Streets: Titi Freak (Japan)

The Brazil-based Titi Freak (Hamilton Yokota) recently made a trip to the Ishinomaki, Miyagi in Japan for a project involving the painting of some temporary dwellings with people in the community. Made possible by The Japan Foundation and the Embassy of Brazil in Japan, the endeavor was meant to have an empowering effect for the residents and featured workshops for inhabitants, solo works by the graffiti artist, as well as collaboration murals. To start off our summary of walls this week, we get news that Ludo has been in Paris getting some new fake xray ads like this piece with a hand skeleton seen inside a mosquito. Other walls seen after the jump include a collaboration between Remi/Rough and LX One (Miami), Ethos (Sydney), Liqen (Mexico), Know Hope (Miami), Ever (Miami), Kid Zoom (Australia), Anthony Lister (Australia), Agostino (Italy), Merge Invisible (Hungary), and 2-Hands (Portugal).

Art Focus: Sean Edward Whelan

Based in Japan, Sean Whelan’s medium of choice is pencil drawing which typically center around his fascination temples and shrines. By grouping hundreds of little Japanese buildings, he is able to build complex amalgamations forming figurative shapes and ideas. Basel Week Miami ’11 / Streets: Liqen

While strolling through the Wynwood District during Art Basel Week Miami, we came across a truly amazing mural by Liqen. The huge piece featured the Mexico-based artist’s illustrative style which depicted the metaphor of workers stuck in cubicles built like a prison with an added surreal insectatoid twist. After reporting on some in-progress photos of an two-sided epic mural by Andrew Schoultz for Primary Flight in Miami, we head back to get some completed shots.
