Streets: Angry Woebots & Pixel Pancho

Two members of the Army of Snipers crew, Aaron “Angry Woebots” Martin and Pixel Pancho, recently teamed up together for some large murals in Los Angeles. Martin doesn’t usually go so big, but his friend and collaborator from Italy showed the way. We especially like this wall with Martin’s signature panda character changed into a grizzly and Pixel Pancho with his robotic version. More photos after the jump…

It’s the end of the week again and time to summarize some of the recent walls in our Streets World Roundup. We start of with this strong collaborative work from DAL & Faith47 during the 15th Biennial of Young Artists in Greece and the move on to other notable pieces after the jump including Ludo (France), Shok1 (UK), Ever (Buenos Aires), Sepe / Chazme / Lump (Poland), Jaz (Spain), RIPO (Spain), Sten and Lex (Italy), Liqen (Mexico), and ROA (Australia) Check out all the photos after […]

Art Focus: Matthew Cox

This week, our Art Focus is on Philadelphia-based Matthew Cox, whose series of medical x-rays and embroidery recently caught our eyes. The Parsons and Otis trained artist has taken radiographs and stitched back in his imagined content partially over the skeletal elements leading to an intriguing new mesh of reality and the imaginary. For those interested, Embroidered X-Rays will be showing at the Packer/Schopf Gallery (Booth E-407) this year at PULSE in Miami, part of Art Basel Week. This particular series of works is just one […]

Streets: Wynwood Walls Update (Miami) Part II

Wow, it looks like Wynwood Walls is really trying to the get the jump on this year’s US rendition of Art Basel. After alerting you to some RETNA activity down in Miami and then a subsequent update (ROA, Gaia, Nunca, HOW & NOSM, the Date Farmers, Faile, and Bast), it’s time for another look as Kenny Scharf, Interesni Kazki, and Saner & Sego have rolled into town and we have some new pieces from the Date Farmers and Vhils as well. More photos after the […]

Streets: Know Hope (Gambia)

Another participant (also see ROA) of the Wide Open Walls project in Gambia was muralist Know Hope. The Israel-based street poet is certainly a good choice to uplift the rural area, hopefully increasing tourism by transforming the area into a living art village. While there, he painted multiple walls including one that feature a thought bubble for “residents to use as a bulletin board for messages, notes, secrets and hopes.” More photos after the jump via Unurth.

Streets: Faile Mural on Bowery & Houston (Part I)

Guess who’s next up to bat for the infamous NYC wall located at the corner of Houston & Bowery? The boys that form the Brooklyn collective known as Faile (featured) took their swing and made their home city proud with this new mural seen above. Following in the footsteps of urban heavyweights such as Kenny Scharf, Barry McGee, Shepard Fairey, Os Gemeos, Keith Haring and most recently JR, the Patrick’s took this challenge head on. AM was invited to catch them hard at work creating the unique composition that features vintage […]

Videos / Streets: D*Face – Moniker Mural (London)

As mentioned in one of our recent Streets World Roundup and London Instagram Roundup articles, D*Face (interviewed) recently painted a mural for this year’s Moniker Art Fair. Well, D just sent over this video (filmed and edited by Rebels Alliance) of the entire process which was interesting as there was some discussson as to who painted over the logo. It looks like he lived up to his name… Also, we’ll have more for you soon as he will be opening a show on November 2nd at […]

Streets: Libya

With the death of Muammar Gaddafi and the fall of his repressive regime, there apparently has been a predictable surge in creative energy in Libya. Some of this has been seen in the increased graffiti and street art murals across the county, much of it political and decked out in red, green, and black – the colors of the new Libyan flag. More inspiring images after the jump via Upperspace.

Streets: Banksy x Occupy London?

What is purportedly a Banksy installation (see the TOX shoutout) has popped up at St.Paul’s Cathedral in support of the Occupy London Movement. The elusive street artist from Bristol’s alleged play on the Monopoly board game was remixed with the theme of the protests – corporate greed and corruption. We’ll see more and more artists get in the game in support of the 99% as these activists spread across the world (see original Occupy Wallstreet with Olek intervention). More photos via Demotix after the jump…
