After a three year self-imposed hiatus from gallery shows (save a few group show contributions), Blaine Fontana made a comeback last weekend to the gallery scene with his solo show “The Golden Record” at Lebasse Projects in Los Angeles (our pics from the opening here). After throwing the best premiere party for his documentary in Los Angeles and gifting San Francisco with the most street pieces, Banksy appears to have been taking a whirlwind tour of other major North American cities. Streets: EINE in Japan

It looks like UK street artist EINE was over in Japan for a show at Gallery 503 recently. Apparently, he had a lot of time to throw up some pieces in the street, mainly due to getting stranded because of the recent volcanic eruption in Iceland. Eine ended up painting 22 shutters and walls, though it looks like he only used the English alphabet for his fans in Tokyo… Take a look at more images after the jump.

Apparently Banksy has been real busy in San Francisco as another five new stencils have been discovered (see previous six here). Combining business with pleasure, the stealthy street artist has hit up famous spots like the Fisherman’s Wharf and Alcatraz. We can’t remember the last time Banksy has gifted one city with so many street pieces, so fans in the Bay Area are definitely the subject of some worldwide jealousy at the moment. NYC is the place to be this weekend – Ryden, Julie Heffernan, Faile/Bast, and Shepard Fairey – just a stunning lineup of shows offering something for every taste.
