Streets: D*Face x Oscars

UK street artist D*Face (featured) recently stopped by Los Angeles to install some well-timed “Zombie Oscar Statues” last week. The two seven foot sculptures were installed in two locations – atop Runyon Canyon and in the parking lot of the famous Mel’s Drive-In in Hollywood near where the 82nd annual Academy Awards (Oscars) were being held at the Kodak Theatre. Openings: Rosson Crow – “Bowery Boys” @ Deitch Projects

On Saturday night, Deitch Projects hosted the opening for the ever talented contemporary artist: Rosson Crow. Her latest show “Bowery Boys” featured her talented nostalgic snapshots of the streets of lower Manhattan. The beautifully rendered works featured periods from the 1800’s to the current landscape depicting the gritty urban facades of the “Big Apple”. Streets: Below Las Vegas with Logan Hicks

Inspired by Matt O’Brien’s book “Beneath the Neon – Life and Death in the Las Vegas Tunnels”, Logan Hicks (interviewed) recently took an interesting look at the massive system of drainage tunnels underneath the city of sin. Portions of the more than 300 miles of subterranean passageways are covered in graffiti and the feel of the place kind of reminds us of the underground work of Brazilian street artist Zezao. Aaron Nagel opens his debut solo show in SF at The Shooting Gallery this Saturday, March 6th. This past weekend AM had a chance to stop by Rosson Crow’s Brooklyn studio where she graciously gave us a sneak preview of her upcoming Deitch Projects show “Bowery Boys” opening on March 4th. As the name implies, Rosson uses her loose and dreamy abstract style to reinterpret the landscape & culture of downtown Manhattan.
