Streets: LUDO

We’ve been keeping an eye on Paris-based street artist LUDO ever since he got up this piece on an abandoned boat. His “Nature’s Revenge” themed works feature juxtapositions of nature and urban elements as these hybrids fight back against the environmental destruction of humans. His fresh concepts and signature green wheatpastes brighten up an otherwise dreary landscape and the viewer can’t stop but think about the message the artist is trying to get across. More of LUDO’s recent work after the jump…

Highlights: Recommended openings for this week Dec 17 – 19

The holidays are upon us and the art world is slowing down to take a lil’ break, but there are still a few shows going off this weekend worth your time. We’ll be back in a couple weeks with a lil’ recap of all the goodness coming up this January. Check out all the holiday festivities after the jump.

Basel Week Miami ’09 – TrustoCorp

In addition to the multitudes of already established and successful street artists working Primary Flight this year, AM managed to score a couple hours with the ever mysterious TrustoCorp as the enigmatic entity bolted up their trusty brand of altered and hand painted street signage. Following a successful blanketing of New York City’s financial district, TrustoCorp trucked down to Miami leaving a trail of subversive signs in their wake.  From what TrustoCorp told us, expect a pretty intense nationwide campaign to come to a city […]

Dual Artist Interview: Hush x Dan Baldwin Collaboration Show @ Zero Cool Gallery

Our friends at Zero Cool gallery will be opening a new group show entitled “Don’t believe the Type” tonight in London that will feature four large scale collaboration paintings by Hush (interviewed) and Dan Baldwin (interviewed). The artists have not worked together in the past, but when AM heard that they would be pooling talents, we thought that this could be something special. Each started work on two pieces and when they finished their elements, the paintings were traded over for the other’s work. You […]

Second Helpings: November 2009

Fall has officially come to a close as November capped off a great start to this art season. As winter kicks off with the big art fairs, we move to recap some of the best stories of last month in another edition of Second Helpings. Get served after the jump.

Basel Week Miami ’09: Jeff Soto – Primary Flight Mural

There are so many artists getting up at Basel Week Miami this year that it’s hard to keep up with everything. On our list today was Jeff Soto’s (interviewed) mural for Primary Flight. The almost completed piece, although different, is reminiscent of a mural he did in London during his show at StolenSpace in May. In fact, Soto tells us that doing some street work in the UK (the first time in 10 years) started him itching for more outdoor displays of his art like […]

Basel Week Miami ’09: Barry McGee – Wynwood Walls Mural

After opening his epic show last month at PRISM, Barry McGee moved on to Art Basel for his next project. For his Wynwood Walls installation, McGee covered an entire building with his signature geometric patterns, left plenty of tags, trademark imagery, and threw in an overturned car as well, smoke machine and all.  AM spent some time salivating over the details on the site all the while documenting everything to share with you! More images after the jump…

Releases/Studio Visits: D*Face x Modern Multiples

AM recently visited the Master Printers over at Modern Multiples studio in Los Angeles as they were printing the latest offering by UK street art superstar D*Face (interviewed). Following the success of his previous print with the acclaimed studio, “Un-American Graffiti,” D*Face came correct with this second release, appeasing fans by releasing the “Coke Riot” image from his previous Jonathan LeVine show. “Coke Riot” was released yesterday at StolenSpace in either metal or wood editions, with a paper edition of 50 soon to come. Full […]

Studio Visits/Releases: Faile – “Warriors of the Night” Print & Bronze Sculptures

Faile’s been heads-down working on some fantastic goodies that will be released TOMORROW. At Noon EST (9am PST), the collective will release some original works on paper, a new print entitled “Warriors of the Night” from their “Lost in Glimmering Shadows” series and two astounding bronze sculptures. AM visited the studio to view the goods up close and personal, and like past projects, the craftsmanship is top notch and most certainly will not disappoint. We got all the details after the jump.

Streets: Blu in Lima – The Finished Wall

Looks like the massive time-intensive mural we told you he was working on has been completed by Italian street artist Blu, this time in Peru. He painstakingly covered this building with skulls and bones, turning it into his personal ossuary and then painted various figures (conquistador, priest, military, business) implied to have profited from the people of Lima.
