Openings: Art Mile – Urban Nation Museum (Berlin)

The official opening of the Urban Nation Museum this weekend in Berlin turned the entire area into an open-air art gallery with an extensive program that included performances, workshops, show acts and more. Previews: Franco “Jaz” Fasoli – “Pretension Of Greatness” @ BC Gallery

Three years after his debut show (covered) at BC Gallery, Franco Fasoli aka Jaz will be opening his new solo tomorrow night (June 29th) in Berlin. Entitled Pretension Of Greatness, the new body of work from the Buenos Aires artist features his newer technique with collage, drawing imagery from the tumultuous modern history of his country. Rounding out the show will be a selection of sculptures made of bronze and fabric. Last month, Francisco “Jaz” Fasoli revealed the first piece in a series of upcoming bronze sculpture editions. Sculpted by the artist himself, the untitled sculpt was produced in Barcelona in a limited edition of only 8 pieces. Although well known for his large figurative murals depicting hybrid creatures, this is the first time the Argentina-born artist has created a 3D piece. Streets / Recap: The Crystal Ship (Belgium)

From the 26th of March until the 10th of April, the Belgian coastal city of Ostend hosted The Crystal Ship festival on its streets. Better known for their beer festival, the town instead gifted their public space to world-renowned artists to create works through the city. Streets / Recap: 352walls (Gainesville)

Back in November of 2015, the city of Gainesville coordinated the beginning of 352walls (The Gainesville Urban Art Initiative project). Curated by Iryna Kanishcheva, the first edition of the event was recently completed while producing 11 murals by internationally recognized artists, plus 10 murals by local artists and a bunch of electrical boxes interventions throughout the Floridian city’s downtown.
