Gary Baseman x Coach Spring 2015 Line

After opening and closing a comprehensive retrospective (covered) at the MOCA Taipei, Gary Baseman (interviewed) moved on to revealing his latest project. At the recent Fashion Week New York, Coach unveiled their new Spring 2015 RTW collection which featured the Los Angeles-based artist’s imagery. The line included his signature creatures emblazoned on bags, used on prints and repeating patterns, and even knitted into sweaters. Openings: Gary Baseman – “The Door is Always Open” @ Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei

Last month, Gary Baseman (interviewed) opened a comprehensive retrospective show at the Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei. Entitled The Door Is Always Open, the exhibition mirrored the delightful showing of the same name last year in Los Angeles (covered). Along with over 500 selected pieces, his largest collection of work in one place yet, the opening also included an art performance with his “WildGirls” with a new dance and musical composition. Tonight (March 7th) in the Philippines, Gary Baseman’s (interviewed) will be opening a show at Vinyl on Vinyl entitled Play With Us Or Else. Along with paintings, art toys, and costumed fun, the Los Angeles-based artist will also be signing the catalogue from his first museum retrospective, The Door Is Always Open, held at the Skirball Cultural Center last year.
