Last night at Gallery 1988 (LA), the man named Craola (Greg Simkins) once again showed there there were no limits to his imagination with another fantastic body of work that created fanciful environments for his beloved characters to play in. Our friend Greg “Craola” Simkins (featured) will be curating a upcoming group show and he wanted to share this cryptic little note with us. Figure it out? Well, it’s the first little hint for all you art loving sleuths out there. We can’t reveal much right now, but we can tell you it’s going to be a monster. Earlier this month, Last Rites Gallery in New York hosted “Lead Poisoning”, a group show that included a surprisingly strong list of participants. Artists like David Stoupakis, Eric White (interviewed), Glenn Barr, Ron English (featured), Chet Zar, Esao Andrews (interviewed), Chris Mars, Greg Simkins (interviewed), Robert Williams, Brian Despain (interviewed) and many others contributed drawings to exhibition. Strewth! Our favorite Aussie couple Dabs Myla have teamed up with Greg “Craola” Simkins (featured) and Jersey Joe aka Rime to produce a collaborative print edition entitled “Look What’s In My Pants”. The print image is based upon the mural that AM saw the quartet laying down on a hot day at the end of May in Los Angeles. T-minus 4 days to Baby Tattooville and as promised we bringÂ sneak peeks from three more artists that will be in attending. The first up is the crazy talented and even more imaginative Greg “Craola”Â Simkins (Interviewed). With a his finely honed skills with the brush, he continues to create beautiful paintings for one sellout show after another. Saturday night, AM attended the opening of Joshua Liner Gallery’s summer group exhibition, which collects solid works from a very strong roster of artists, some of whom the gallery has shown previously and others of whom the gallery is working with for the first time. From the show, it is clear that Liner is actively evolving and maturing his gallery. And from the response from collectors and others at the opening, it seems that what he’s doing is working.
