Showing: Ron Mueck @ Hauser & Wirth, London (Savile Row, South Gallery)

If you remember, we previewed the Ron Mueck exhibition at Hauser & Wirth, London (Saville Row, South Gallery) last month. Those familiar with Mueck’s hyperrealist style and playful distortions of scale will know his work needs to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. The four-sculpture show closes on Saturday 26 May, so the terribly busy, the forgetful and the procrastinators still have a couple of days to check it out. Favourite pieces for AM are Still Life, a giant plucked chicken hanging by […]

Jakub Julian Ziolkowski – “Timothy Galoty & The Dead Brains” @ Hauser & Wirth NYC

Timothy Galoty & The Dead Brains is Jakub Julian Ziolkowski’s first solo exhibition in the US. The Polish painter unveils 28 paintings, which all seem to have been created this year. Off the bat, we can see that he works pretty fast and has a wildly vivid imagination. The title of the show refers to an imaginary rock band that occupies the universe Ziolkowski has given birth to. It is one that is surreal, macabre, dream-like, fluid, colorful, horrific, and beautiful. The work seems deeply […]

Basel Week Switzerland ’10 – Paul McCarthy @ Hauser & Wirth

Hauser & Wirth’s booth at Art Basel features a brand new body of work by highly respected artist Paul McCarthy.  The works are sculptural versions of work explored by the artist in his White Snow exhibition and features the dwarfs from, surprisingly, Snow White. They are made of various colored silicone and are unmistakeably McCarthy-esque. A set of these are rumored to be priced at $3million and a single dwarf is a more affordable $750,000.
