With this year’s POW! WOW! Hawaii winding down over the weekend, it’s now time to take look at some of the finished murals for the annual event. POW! WOW! Hawaii ’16 / Streets: In Progress

Starting this week, artists have been hard at work painting murals for this year’s POW! WOW! Hawaii. Beautifying the streets of Kaka’ako in Oahu with their imagery, the participants get to enjoy the tropical weather and throngs of fans as they leave their mark at the annual event. If you attended any of the previous Supersonic Invitational shows, you know you’re in for a treat. We were unable to attend the reception last Saturday night at Spoke Art, but we met up with the curator/art blogger, Zach Tutor, earlier in the day for a look at all the artwork. Once again, the Wynwood Arts District became the capital of the street art world during Basel Week Miami. With artists from around the globe painting on every corner of this lively neighborhood and related events happening at local bars, clubs, galleries and parks, one of the main events was surely going down at Wynwood Walls. Upcoming: POW! WOW! Long Beach

With the annual event in Hawaii expanding into SXSW this year and Taiwan last year, the POW! WOW! festival will finally hit the west coast on June 21-28. POW! WOW! Long Beach will feature a week of exhibitions, film screenings, talks and of course public murals. Participating in the street art will be Aaron De La Cruz, Benjie Escobar, Cryptik, Fafi, Hueman, James Jean, Jeff McMillan, Jeff Soto, Low Bros, Madsteez, Nychos, Push, and Tristan Eaton.
