Showing: “What In the World: The Juxtapoz Edition” @ Urban Nation

Urban Nation in Berlin recently teamed up with Juxtapoz Magazine, and its editor Evan Pricco, to curate their latest edition of PM/events. What In the World: The Juxtapoz Edition is the title of the group show that opened on May 19th, further introducing the wide range of urban art that this upcoming museum will be showing and supporting. The idea of this vibrant exhibition was to present the non-existence of boundaries in this lively art movement, through work by mostly Europe-based artists. Not defined as graffiti, […]

Streets: The Crystal Ship Festival (Belgium) – Part II

Last week we introduced to you The Crystal Ship festival that just took off on the streets of Ostend in Belgium. The second edition of the event produced an impressive selection of fresh public pieces, showing the consistent and recognizable curatorial efforts with very few exceptions. Among 20 international and local artists, some of our personal standout pieces include the large wooden assemblage by Strook. Although not usually working in public, the Belgian artist created one of the more impressive pieces for the festival. The 9m high […]

Streets: The Crystal Ship Festival (Belgium) – Part I

On the 1st of April, the second edition of The Crystal Ship Festival officially started in the Belgian coastal city of Oostende. The launch of the event was marked with the arrival of the six meters tall Inflatable Refugee sculpture by Belgian art collective Schellekens & Peleman (seen above).  This striking piece balancing on the border of public art, dadaism and interventionism, has travelled around Europe, from Denmark to Venice. Its arrival at Oostend’s Montgomery Dock is a continuation of the artists’ efforts to raise awareness about […]

Recap: FestiWall 2016 (Italy)

The FestiWall public arts and music event recently wrapped up their 2016 edition with a small but effective roster of artists creating murals on the island of Sicily. An example of this was a lush piece entitled The Gardener (seen above) from Australian street artist Fintan Magee, a multi-story masterpiece painted over several days. Also check out some equally great pieces that beautified the city of Ragusa from Hyuro, Evoca1, SatOne, and Agostino Iacurci that are perfect examples of their aesthetic in the photos below… Photo credit: Marcello […]

The 16th edition of Nuart Festival brought some of the most popular street and urban artists to Stavanger, invited creatives that usually don’t work in public as well as few names that already participated in the festival years ago. On June 9th, Dorothy Circus Gallery will be opening a solo show by Hyuro. Convivencia will be her first Italian show which will be followed by a new outdoor mural for the city of Rome as the fifth phase of the gallery’s Spray For Your Rights project. With both the mural and the new drawings as well as watercolors on paper produced for the show, the Argentinean artist will interpret the theme of coexistence. With this in mind, the new pieces have a somewhat different composition, often referring to the concept of […]
