Streets: INO (Ibiza)

Ino was recently back to Ibiza for the 7th edition of the local Bloop festival. After his Funk the Power piece from last year got buffed by the city council of San Antoni, Greek artist came back to create another piece @ the festival’s new location. Melting Earth is the title of a new piece that carries a pretty straight forward message about the environmental issue of global warming. With the recent US political climate shifting towards ignoring the warnings of experts, Ino decided to […]

Streets: AEC (Interesni Kazki) // Bloop Festival (Ibiza)

Earlier this month, AEC from Interesni Kazki (interviewed) traveled to Ibiza for the latest Bloop Festival. The mural was painted as part of the OpenAir.Gallery project, the festival’s long term plan to convert the island into a true gallery under the skies, open all year round. Entitled The Revolution, and located Sant Antoni de Portmany, the piece features his signature surrealistic and symbolic style. Discuss Interesni Kazki here.

Currently in Ibiza, some works from KAWS are on display at LA NAVE, a new 8,000 sq. ft. exhibition space on the island launched by New York-based gallerist and art collector Lio Malca. Anchored by the seven-metre-tall Clean Slate companion sculpture, the exhibition also includes some originals and prints on display in the transformed old salt warehouse overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The show is open through October 10th with the space scheduled to rotate in more of Malca’s and his family’s art collection in the future. Via Hypebeast & BLOUIN […]

Previews: Takashi Murakami @ Blum & Poe Popup Gallery (Ibiza)

This June, Blum & Poe will open a pop up gallery on Ibiza, showing exclusive new works by Takashi Murakami. The Japanese artist recently shared these in-progress photos showing his studio staff at Miyoshi Factory preparing the works. Along with new large paintings, a few sculptures will be exhibited, including one that will be placed at the entrance of a newly constructed casino on the island. Since the deadline for this project was quite short, the team had to find a faster production solution for this piece. The answer […]

Streets: Phlegm for the 2013 Bloop Festival (Ibiza)

Muralist Phlegm recently travelled to Ibiza for this year’s Bloop Festival which has just gotten started. Like his effort last year for the event held on the popular island in the Mediterranean Sea, the Sheffield-based street artist was given lots of space to work with. He didn’t waste much of it as he painted a huge robot appearing to examine bits of his own brain, but a closer look reveals some of his signature characters in CONTROL – the theme of this year’s festival. Other […]

Streets: Phlegm for the 2012 Bloop Festival (Ibiza)

After a series of murals in New York, Phlegm continues his globe-trotting ways and head over to Sant Antoni de Portmany, Ibiza for the Bloop Festival (see last year). The new piece on the side of a building has an Escher-esque feel to it, but re-imagined with UK-based street painter’s characters and style. Also scheduled to make an appearance at the event are Interesni Kazki, Boris Hoppek, Btoy, Olek, Malarky, and more. Discuss Phlegm here.
