Next door to the main hall of Art Basel (covered – part 1, part 2), the Unlimited section was reserved for mostly large site specific installations. Curated by New York-based curator Gianni Jetzer, the idea for this platform was to go beyond the traditional fair booth limitations and allow exhibitors to present large size sculptures, paintings, videos, installations and performances. Last month, Felipe Pantone visited Paris in order to create his contribution to the ongoing Lasco Project curated by Hugo Vitrani for Palais De Tokyo. Following the work from Stelios Faitakis, Olivier Kosta-Théfaine, Philippe Baudelocque, JR and Os Gemeos for the project, the prolific Argentinian-born artist and his team painted an impressive installation in the tunnel of the A86 Duplex, between Rueil-Malmaison in Vélizy, west of Paris. Victoria Miro in London is currently hosting a new exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Yayoi Kusama. Spanning the gallery’s three locations and waterside garden, the exhibition features new paintings, pumpkin sculptures, and immersive room experiences, all made especially for this showing. This is the artist’s most extensive exhibition at the gallery to date, and it is the first time mirror rooms have gone on view in London since Kusama’s major retrospective at Tate Modern in 2012. Hot Tea x Bon Iver @ Sydney Opera House

Last week, American indie folk band Bon Ivor performed at the Sydney Opera House under a large suspended installation by Hot Tea. The Minneapolis-based artist, known for his yarn-based work, created a stunning hanging installation that changed colors and imagery when viewed in conjunction with projection, a collaborative project entitled Circle. Karl Hab – “24H LOS ANGELES”

AM contributing photographer and world traveler, Karl Hab, recently released a book about his experiences in Los Angeles. Entitled 24H LOS ANGELES, the 196 page publication (introduction by Daniel Arsham) has no page numbers, but instead features hours corresponding to these times: morning, noon, afternoon and evening. Tomorrow night (April 23) at the Vincent Price Art Museum in Los Angeles, Silent Wonderment: Exploring the World of Giant Robot will open their doors to the public from 7-10 pm. Although the opening was delayed due to the terrible recent events in Brussels, City Lights at the newly formed Millennium Iconoclast Museum of Art ended up kicking off successfully earlier this month.
