While AM is cavorting artists, fellow bloggers, and industry friends at Art Basel Miami Week, the rest of the art world is not coming to a complete standstill. For example, later tonight, Dec. 1st, across the pond at Onethirty3, Hush (interviewed) will be unveiling a new installation at a new show that will include videos and photographs that document the first year of the gallery and project space. AM was recently onsite to bring you Faile breaking ground at the prominent Houston & Bowery mural (before they headed to London for their solo). Coming up on Thursday night, September 29th, in Milan, street sensations Interesni Kazki will be opening their solo show at AvantGarden. The Ukrainian duo’s work is colorful and surreal with almost a Dali-esque feel to it. Appropriately, their exhibition is entitled Objects of the Universe as their paintings are typically filled with disparate mundane items arranged in inventive compositions. Also, interesting will be how their work (see Russia, Ibiza, Portugal, and Slovakia) translates indoors although they will be working on some wall murals as well. […]

A couple Fridays ago, Orange County was treated to a captivating installation by James Marshal aka Dalek (interviewed) at the Hurley Space Gallery. Immersed in all directions by the New York-based artist’s geometric creations, viewers were also introduced to a matching line of Phantom 4D Board Shorts as well as some surfboards and bikes. This coming weekend, the duo known as Dabs Myla will present their latest solo exhibit over at Culver City’s Thinkspace Gallery. Titled The Best of Times, the show promises to deliver on their best work up to date which mainly focuses on their recent time spent across the great state of California. Openings: ROA – “Transit” @ Skalitzers (Berlin)

Last Saturday night in Berlin, ROA returns to Germany (see Cologne 2010) and transformed Skalitzers into a personal playground for his anatomically exposed creatures. Employing wall murals, including one that cleverly incorporates a doorway, as well as movable paintings on found objects, showgoers were invited to play and interact with the Belgium-based artist’s new work collectively entitled Transit.
