Releases: James Jean x Staple – “Washizu” (Bone White Colorway)

If you missed out on the original release of James Jean’s (interviewed) Washizu figure last year, here’s your chance at the second iteration. Previews: James Jean – “Azimuth” @ Kaikai Kiki Gallery

After an earlier peek at the exquisite stain glass works for James Jean’s (interviewed) solo opening tomorrow night (April 6th) in Tokyo at Kaikai Kiki Gallery, here are some more tantalizing looks at the new body of work entitled Azimuth. Releases: James Jean x Defonce – Custom Chocolate Bar

James Jean (interviewed) recently announced the release of a collaborative product with Defonce Chocolatiers that feature his artworks and design. The custom bar features cannabis-infused white chocolate splashed with Rosé champagne and showered with pistachios and strawberries. Upcoming: James Jean – “Azimuth” @ Kaikai Kiki Gallery

On April 6th, James Jean (interviewed) will be opening a new show in Tokyo at Kaikai Kiki Gallery. Continuing to work with Takashi Murakami to present his work to Japanese collectors (see 2015), the American artist has prepared a series of new works collectively entitled Azimuth. Releases: James Jean – “The Shape of Water” Print

Currently, James Jean (interviewed) has a time-limited print on release until 7:59 AM PST on Wednesday, January 31st. The Shape of Water was created for the award winning film of the same name with James working directly with Guillermo del Toro to create an image for the official one sheet. Sized at 33 1/2” x 23”, it comes signed and numbered from the Los Angeles-based artist and priced at $200. Head over here for more details and to purchase if you want to add it to your collection. Releases: James Jean – “Max Pipe” Print

James Jean (interviewed) will be releasing another signed and numbered time-limited print on November 14th, starting at 8 AM PST and ending after 24 hours. Entitled Max Pipe, the image is inspired by the painting Attirement of the Bride (La Toilette de la mariée) by Max Ernst. The enhancements (foil stamping, holographic foil, embossments) and dies required for this edition makes it one of Jean’s most complex offerings to date. Recently, James Jean (interviewed) revealed the artwork he finished for a new movie from Guillermo del Toro – The Shape Of Water. The romantic horror film centers around a mute janitor who falls in love with an amphibious man, a scenario captured perfectly by Jean’s artistic vision. Continuing his long time collaboration with Prada, James Jean (interviewed) has followed up his recent work on their 2018 Resort Collection (covered) with work on their SS 2018 Collection. Releases: James Jean – “Bouquet” Print

Those of you who remember seeing the September 2016 issue of Juxtapoz may recognize this image from James Jean (interviewed) that will be released as a print soon. Bouquet was also featured in the Juxtapoz x Superflat show (covered) in Vancouver last year, co-curated by Jux’s Pricco and Takashi Murakami.
