Releases: James Jean – “Melon” Print

Next week, James Jean (interviewed) will be releasing a new print off his website in a time-limited manner, making it available for 12 hours starting at 8:00 AM PDT on Wednesday, May 25th and ending at 7:59 PM PDT. Melon was created to celebrate summer and will be sized at 27″ x 20″ (image size 24″ x 18″) with the price set at $200. Releases: James Jean – “Pomegranate” Print

James Jean (interviewed) recently released woodblock print that he created at the Adachi Institute in Tokyo. The limited edition (run of 50) features a young woman using the red color dripping from a pomegranate as makeup, a beautiful example of the Japan-based artist’s artistic vision and craftsmanship. Releases: James Jean – “Kali” Print

On March 23rd, James Jean (interviewed) will be releasing a new time-limited print (starting 8:00 AM PDT and available for 12 hours only) through his webstore entitled Kali. The image is taken from one of his paintings for his show in Tokyo last year (covered) and features the Japan-based artist’s surreal take on the Hindu goddess of empowerment. Upcoming: James Jean – Chinese New Year Installation @ interTrend

With Chinese New Year coming up on Monday, interTrend in Long Beach has teamed up with James Jean (interviewed) for an interactive installation to celebrate the occasion. The project centers around the red envelopes given out around the holidays by families for good luck. In this case, they have been secured to the front of the company’s building (228 E. On January 26th, James Jean (interviewed) will be celebrating Chinese New Year a little early with the release of the Year of the Monkey print. The signed and numbered time-limited edition will be available available for one hour only, starting at 8:00 AM PST. After working with Apple on promoting the new Apple Pencil and iPad Pro with some amazing digital artwork, James Jean (interviewed) recently revealed a new Year of the Monkey piece to his fans (seen below). Over the weekend, This Is A Limited Edition released a new collaboration entitled Wave Skull with James Jean (interviewed) featuring a collectors dinner plate & print combo. Each piece is produced in fine bone china with real gold embellishments and comes hand-signed, just like the print. The sets come in an edition of 333 and costs £99.00. James Jean – Apple Pencil // Ipad Pro

Gifted artist James Jean (interviewed) recently was recruited by Apple to promote their new Pencil stylus which pairs nicely with the newly released iPad Pro. Jean put the novel technology to good use by drawing his amazing imagery directly onto the tablet, which you can see in the images included here. Openings: James Jean – “Zugzwang” @ Hidari Zingaro

Earlier this month, as a part of GEISAI∞infinity project curated by Takashi Murakami, James Jean (interviewed) opened up a solo show at Kaikai Kiki’s Hidari Zingaro in Tokyo. Entitled Zugzwang, the new body of work highlighted some of the American artist’s imaginative imagery in a large scale form that mirrored his moleskin sketches that we have come to love. Along with these figurative gems created in a blue hue and accented with red and pink, Jean also contributed a more painterly triptych that dominated the room. Photo credit: Ksn.
