Streets: World Roundup (Jul 21 – Aug 3)

Leading things off on this edition of our Streets: World Roundup is this new mural from Vhils (via Hookedblog) for the Phytology Project. The wall is situated on a side street just off Bethnal Green Road (the station end) in the Bethnal Green Nature Reserve and is part of a series of year-long artist commissions taking place in the reserve. The time had come for another Streets World Roundup here on AM. Leading things off is a complex new work of art from Felice Varini in Hasselt, Belgium for the “De Unie Hasselt-Genk” exhibition. The spiral-like piece which plays with perspective was painted on the roofs and facades of 99 buildings and can only be properly seen from one vantage point. Take a look at more here. Openings: Franco “Jaz” Fasoli – “Vinculo” @ BC Gallery

Argentinian based artist Franco Fasoli aka JAZ opened a solo show at BC Gallery in Berlin on June 6th. Titled Vinculo, this exhibition is a continuation of the successful collaboration between the gallery and the artist. The paintings created for this show are “defined by the tensions of ambivalence,” and instead of showing his signature anamorphic imagery, are “divided” into animalistic and humanoid ones. Focused on the powerful and aggressive appearance of the animals, especially wild cats, and violent behavior of humans, Fasoli created a series of complementing works.  The […]

Rex Romae, a brand new urban contemporary art gallery project in London, is kicking off with an exclusive, week long pop-up show. Basel Week Miami ’13: “Friends and Family” @ Yo <3 305 Gallery

During Art Basel Week in Miami the Yo <3 305 Gallery in Wynwood brought together the work of seven muralists from around the world for a Fordistas collective exhibition entitled The Art of Collaboration: Friends and Family. La Tour 13 (Paris)

Over looking the Seine, La Tour Paris 13‎ is a project curated by Mehdi Ben Cheikh from Galerie Itinerrance. During a year, the entire building was painted by 100 international street and graffiti artists, each leaving their mark with murals and installations within the 36 apartments over 9 floors and cellars. Opening to the public for a month from October 1st, the building is due to be demolished in November, making it the largest temporary street art exhibition in France.
