Thursday night (May 3rd), the Spoke Art Gallery will be opening their newest exhibition – Synergy. Every year, Thinkspace puts on a group show featuring numerous newer artists they’ve had their eye on over the past year and adds in some artists from their regular rotation and titles it Picks of the Harvest. A couple weeks ago, the Thinkspace Gallery hosted a trio of artists known for their realistic renderings and a new perspective on portraiture. Aaron Nagel brought his edgy nudes, Jeff Ramirez presented some paintings from unique angles as well as some masked characters, and Jennifer Nehrbass contributed some of her narrative-based works. After seeing Pakayla Rae Biehn in several group shows, it’s nice to see her finally present a larger body of work. Being There opens May 21st at the Thinkspace Gallery and will showcase the San Francisco-based artist’s ethereal works, often painted to give the feeling dream-like double exposed photos. Last Saturday night, the Thinkspace Gallery in Culver City opened a new show featuring some of their young artists, particularly those whose work involved elements of photo-realism. For “The New Realism”, Aaron Nagel, Jeff Ramirez, Jennifer Nehrbass, Linnea Strid, Nathan DeYoung and Pakayla Rae Biehn each put forth their vision of the human form but with their unique twists. Thinkspace Gallery will be opening a new group exhibition this Saturday night, December 11th, highlighting some of their artists whose work utilize elements of photorealism. “New Realism” will include pieces from Aaron Nagel, Jeff Ramirez, Jennifer Nehrbass, Linnea Strid, Nathan DeYoung and Pakayla Rae Biehn.
