Previews: Jim Houser – “Night Got Quiet – Not Quite Light” @ FFDG

Next month in San Francisco, Jim Houser will be opening his new show entitled Night Got Quiet – Not Quite Light at the Fecal Face Dot Gallery. The Philadelphia-based artist has prepared 15 mixed media paintings as well as his always intriguing site-specific installations. Opening: Jim Houser – “A Position On a Map” @ Patricia Armocida

Galleria Patricia Armocida in Milan recently opened A Position On a Map, a new solo show by Jim Houser (previewed). This is American artist’s second solo show with the gallery, and after three and half years, he is back with  20 new works that he shared with local art lovers. Jim Houser Mural @ Elixr Coffee (Philadelphia)

Philly-based painter, Jim Houser, recently worked on an indoors mural at Elixr Coffee in Philadelphia, as a part of their art program. While his works are showing in couple of group shows at the moment, Jim worked on his piece for couple of days, painting an image based on a small family portrait that is hanging in his son’s room. Openings: Jim Houser – “Search Party” @ Jonathan Levine

A couple weekends ago in New York, painter Jim Houser opened a new exhibition at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Search Party was the fourth solo from the Philadelphia-based artist with the Chelsea showspace and featured a series of eight new works and a site-specific installation. Those familiar with Houser’s work will recognize his signature visual language and iconography in these new works as well as the many intriguing collage and playful sculptural components. Previews: Walking with The Dutch Giant – A Benefit for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Honoring Justin Van Hoy @ Space 1026

The untimely recent passing of Justin Van Hoy has had an huge impact on the artistic community he was associated with. The Los Angeles based gallerist, artist and designer sadly lost his long battle with cancer in November shortly after his book Milk and Honey: Contemporary Art in California was published.
