Basel Week Miami ’16 / Previews: Spoke Art @ SCOPE

Another booth to pay attention to during Basel Week Miami is a group showing from Spoke Art at SCOPE. They plan to bring works like Scott Scheidly’s pink portraits, Joan Cornellà’s black humor infused pieces, Casey Weldon’s vibrant paintings, Abigail Goldman’s morbid sculptures, and Eelus’ dark portraits, along with other contributions. Recap: Joan Cornellà – “A Solo Show” @ Spoke-Art

San Francisco’s Spoke Art Gallery is currently running the last couple days of a solo show by Joan Cornellà. For his US debut, the Barcelona-based artist produced several original acrylics on canvas as well as a series of fine art giclee prints of his popular comics. Though primarily showing his work on the most competitive platform there is, the internet, Cornellà’s dark, unsettling, sometimes even offensive comics quickly became a viral phenomenon.
