Seattle-based contemporary artist Scott Musgrove is a master of his craft. Openings: Jean Labourdette (Turf One) – “The Rising” @ Jonathan Levine Gallery

Opening a several weeks ago alongside SHAG (covered) at Jonathan Levine Gallery was Jean Labourdette (Turf One). The self taught French-Canadian artist created a great show he named “The Rising”. Utilizing numerous found objects on which he painted on, Jean worked to create interactive pieces for the viewers. What we enjoyed in particular were the realistic subjects which which were effortlessly integrated into their respective backdrops. Check out the full show after the jump.

The Wynwood Walls was a very unique project that brought the arts back to a worn down district of Miami. Openings: Xiaoqing Ding – “At the End of a Rainbow” @ Jonathan Levine Gallery

Opening recently alongside Tara McPherson was Brooklyn artist Xiaoqing Ding with her new exhibition “At the End of a Rainbow” at Jonathan Levine Gallery. The show demonstrates Xiao’s flexibility to work on various mediums and still keep her luminous subjects intact. While most of her pieces utilizing oil or fine graphite techniques, she also experiments in utilizing Asian mediums and presentation such as scrolls and traditional wood sculpt frames. Better make plans to stop by Jonathan Levine Gallery this Saturday. Esao Andrews will open his latest solo show, “Solid Void”, along with peer Alex Gross (interviewed) and his solo show. Last week, we stopped by Jonathan LeVine Gallery to hang out and catch their “Annual Summer Invitational” (previewed). The diverse group show consisted of artists who have never officially shown with the gallery and gave attendees of the gallery a different look at some different Low Brow and Street art action.
