Last year at the US-Mexico border fence, a large scaffolded installation (covered) from JR (interviewed) was put in place to bring attention to the issue of immigration. If you remember, the he later organized a massive picnic (covered) with his signature eye motif adorning the table, leading to an iconic photo from above. Coinciding with the last day of his scaffolded installation at the US-Mexico border fence (covered), JR (interviewed) organized a gigantic picnic to commemorate the occasion. Setting up a massive table featuring the “eyes of a dreamer,” a motif the French artist is famous for, the feast spanned both sides of the fence near Tecante, Mexico and Tecate in California. Recently in Tecate, at the US-Mexico border fence, JR (interviewed) has installed a provocative new project featuring a Mexican boy peering over the barrier. Best viewed from the US side, the new work towering over 70 feet utilizes the scaffolding technique he introduced at the recent Olympics in Brazil (covered) and deals wth a topic the French photograffeur often touches on – immigrants and refugees.
