Last night, AM stopped by the Tokyo branch of Galerie Perrotin to catch the opening of KAWS’ solo show, his first of two in Asia with Hong Kong coming up. Attended by his Japanese admirers (some from his Original-Fake days), international superfans, and the usual cast of locally-based artist friends, the opening showcased the Brooklyn-based artist’s newest pop culture character-based abstractions including a sweet Snoopy airplane shaped painting.Take a look at more photos from the opening reception below… Discuss this show here. It’s always interesting to take a peek into the home of one of your favorite artists (also see the Rydens and Shepard Fairey), especially if they are collectors themselves. Architectural Digest recently stopped by the home of Brian Donnelly, better know as KAWS, and his wife and artist Julia Chiang to give us an intriguing look at their Brooklyn abode. The converted triangle-shaped industrial building features both living space as well as administrative offices and art storage, something Donnelly certainly needs judging by his art collection. Just from […]

One booth you don’t want to miss while in London for Frieze Week will be the Perrotin booth as they have dedicated their entire space to KAWS. Continuing to push the boundaries of his aesthetic, the Brooklyn-based artist explores different palettes as well as incorporates more of his “scribbles” in the new work. Rounding out the showing is one of the American artist’s father and son companion sculptural duos as well as a larger piece in the Frieze Sculpture Park. Take a look at more preview […]
