With this year’s POW! WOW! Hawaii (more coverage here) behind us, here is a look back in video form of some of what took place. Directed by Mikey Inouye, the main recap video seen below features footage and interviews with the artists which encapsulated nicely what the event was about. POW! WOW! ’15 / Streets: SABER X Kevin Ancell

The amazing roster this year for POW! WOW! Hawaii (more coverage here) also included legendary LA writer SABER (interviewed) and RVCA advocate Kevin Ancell. The MSK-affiliated SABER contributed a volcano and some of the figurative imagery rendered with amazing spray can control while the Bay Area-based Ancell (who also opened an exhibition that week) added his script and some other elements. On February 13th, the day before the official closing of POW! WOW! Hawaii 2015 (more coverage here), one of the main partners of the event, RVCA, organized an interesting show at Modern Honolulu, curated by PM Tenore. The visitors had a chance to see the collection of surfboards that surfing superstar Kelly Slater and RVCA artist Kevin Ancell collaborated on. Openings: “Assorted Flavor” @ Known Gallery

This past Saturday, the Known Gallery and gallery director Casey Zoltan, presented an exhibition titled Assorted Flavor which featured the eclectic work of seven different artists. The lineup included the likes of Kevin Ancell, Jason Jägel, Saber, Patrick Martinez, Greg Lamarche, Push and Augustine Kofie. Displayed across a wide open space perfectly suitable for this kind of exhibit, the artwork showed an interesting mix of graffiti-style art, mixed media work, and even some traditional painting.
