Releases: “OUTSIDE THE LINES” Coloring Book @ MOCA

Last week, the MOCA in Los Angeles held a release party for OUTSIDE THE LINES: An Artists’ Coloring Book for Giant Imaginations, a publication curated by Souris Hong-Porretta (seen directly below). Many of the animators, cartoonists, fine artists, graphic artists, illustrators, musicians, outsider artists, photographers, street artists, and video game artists made it out to the event to interact with fans and sign copies. Previews: Kozyndan – “End Of Summer Never Ends” @ Giant Robot 2

After another three city series of shows in Australia earlier this year, the husband and wife artistic duo known as Kozyndan have a new show opening tomorrow (September 7th) in Los Angeles. Openings: “Wider than a postcard” & olive47 – “bonita bonita” @ Breeze Block Gallery

Breeze Block Gallery opened their huge group show Wider than a postcard (previewed) alongside the first solo show in their new gallery 2 space – olive47’s bonita bonita (featured) a couple of weeks back to a packed Portland crowd. Over 400 individual works went into the postcard show with 200 artists providing postcard sized works. The work was hung on the walls in grids of 24 cards, each echoing the aspect ratio of the individual works themselves as each work was 6×4 inches. The variance of work encompassed photography […]

Previews: “Wider than a postcard” @ Breeze Block Gallery

On the back of his Space//Form group exhibition last year (covered), Arrested Motion’s Sven Davis is working with Breeze Block Gallery in Portland again on another huge group event entitled Wider than a postcard. With over 200 artists and 400 individual works, this exhibition looks to be both bigger than the previous event and also smaller at the same time as all of the artworks are postcard sized at 6×4 inches. Each artist is either making work on a found / owned postcard and adapting / adding […]

Upcoming: Kozyndan @ Outre Gallery (Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney)

Returning to Australia for another series of solos (like in 2011) in Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney, Kozyndan will be showing at the different locations of Outre Gallery on March 8th, March 15th, and March 22nd respectively (RSVP here). Look for new original work from the duo like their popular panoramics typically infused with local flavor, like Bathers’ Friday in the CBD (partial shot above) as well as limited edition offerings. Preview: Kozyndan – “Breaking Circles, Broken Light” @ Narwhal Gallery

On Friday night (November 16th), Kozyndan will be returning to Canada for an exhibition entitled Breaking Circles, Broken Light at the Narwhal Gallery in Toronto. Included in the exhibition are 25 paintings, 6 ceramic sculptures and 3 resin sculptures all based on various endangered animals in a more experimental show for the husband and wife duo where they try all kinds of new mediums. Openings: “Space//Form” @ Breeze Block Gallery (Part 2)

Following directly on from Part 1 of our coverage of the busy Space//Form opening, AM now delves a little deeper pictorially into the artwork created for this huge group exhibition of 110 artists with a series of pictures where the art is more viewable (like the Mark Dean Veca installation above). Husband and wife artistic duo Kozyndan have released a new print featuring the joining of two of their favorite creatures – Sharks and Cats. Entitled Hunters: Charks an’ Kittehs, the limited edition comes in a run of 150, is signed & numbered, and is sized at 30 x 24 inches (plus 3 inch borders).
