Two artists from across the pond who are not strangers to Los Angeles – Conor Harrington (interviewed), who had a show with Chloe Early at Kinsey/DesForges last year, and Antony Micallef (interviewed), who had a pop-up show with Lazarides almost 3 years ago – unveiled their newest body of work to a thrilled opening night crowd at Eurotrash at the Lazarides LA gallery. Remember last year when we broke the news about Lazarides moving their famous Outsiders show to LA? Well, they decided to step up their pop-up show efforts by expanding their LA presence to 4 shows that will last through this summer. The still secret 8000 ft gallery space will be situated in the famous high end district of Beverly Hills. Our most anticipated show of the year thus far opened in London this week at Lazarides and we had to make the trip down to see Ian Francis’ (featured) “Exodus”. London art fans turned out this Thursday night to witness the most simultaneously fun and original show we’ve witnessed since, well, probably ever! The “Faile Bast Deluxx Fluxx Arcade” is in town and after a week of installation time, is now officially open for business! Faile (aka: the Patricks) and Bast transformed the ground floor into a fully functioning video game arcade, with old school cabinets – some of which we recognized from our misspent youth – being given the paste-up treatment. It appears that the preparations for Lazarides’ group show “Grifters” is already in full swing (teased). With most of the works already arriving inside the gallery, the artists got busy around the streets of London.
