Upcoming: “Gilded Horizons” @ KP Projects

This Saturday, November 11th, KP Projects in Los Angeles will be opening a new group show entitled Gilded Horizons. Included in the exhibition are Johnny “KMNDZ” Rodriguez, JP Naeng, Jean-Pierre Arboleda, Melany Meza-Dierks, and Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed), who contributed the stunning new geisha painting seen above among other works. Upcoming: Shepard Fairey – “Damaged” @ Library Street Collective (LA Popup)

Coming up on November 11th, Library Street Collective will be transforming an industrial space in Los Angeles for Shepard Fairey (featured) to host his first large-scale show in his hometown in nearly 10 years. Billed as his largest ever solo, Damaged will feature over 200 works and takes it’s name from Black Flag’s 1981 album. Previews: Jacky Tsai – “The Lost Angels” @ Corey Helford Gallery

The Lost Angels, a solo from Jacky Tsai, will be opening this Saturday (October 28th) at the Corey Helford Gallery in downtown Los Angeles. The exhibition will feature the Chinese artist’s work with lacquer, porcelain, mixed media painting and print, all featuring imagery that deals with East meets West themes and ideas. Seen here are pieces from his fantastic Superheroes series where we see various comic book characters placed in classic Chinese scenes, leading to a unexpected juxtaposition of worlds.

Previews: Ian Francis – “Artificial Winter” @ Corey Helford Gallery

On October 28th, Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles will be opening a new show from Ian Francis (featured) entitled Artificial Winter. Streets: Jen Stark – “Chromatic Cascade” (Los Angeles)

It looks like Jen Stark recently completed a mural in the downtown LA arts district (1828 Conway Pl. Los Angeles, CA 90065), her largest to date. Entitled Chromatic Cascade, the impressive piece spans two walls on the facade of a building and measures 27 x 200 ft. Featuring bold colors and intricate patterning, the wall painting is a classic example of Stark’s psychedelic drippy imagery, one of the reoccurring motifs in her work. Discuss Jen Stark here.

Openings: D*Face – “Happy Never Ending” @ Corey Helford Gallery

A couple weekends ago, D*Face (interviewed) headed to Los Angeles to present his newest body of work at Corey Helford Gallery. Entitled Happy Never Ending, the exhibition featured paintings, sculptures, hand painted multiples, various limited editions, hand-painted book covers, a tombstone installation, as well as associated street murals. Previews: Kevin E. Taylor – “Dead Evidence” @ Cordesa Fine Art

This Saturday night (October 7th) in Los Angeles, Cordessa Fine Art will be presenting a new body of work from Kevin E. Taylor. Entitled Dead Evidence, the recently produced paintings are loosely adapted from Larry Sultan and Mike Mandel’s photo series Evidence. Continuing his exploration of intriguing imagery that brings surreal elements into museum or gallery settings, the San Francisco-based artist deals with themes such as how “humankind’s urgent march toward technological advancement accelerates, yet our mortality constantly grounds us.” Discuss Kevin E. Previews: Andy Kehoe – “PRISMATIC” @ Thinkspace Gallery

Tonight (September 30th) at Thinkspace Gallery in Los Angeles, Andy Kehoe will be opening a solo show entitled PRISMATIC. The new mystical paintings continue the Pittsburgh-based artist’s expansion of his fantastical world filled with mysterious antlered creatures often set against the background of luminous and polychromatic skies. Kehoe’s technique of combining resin with oil paint gives the work a dimensionality that adds to the richness and texture of his compositions.
