Last Friday, Travis Louie’s (interviewed) opened his show “Portrait Of A Young Monster” at Roq La Rue.  There were a total of eight paintings with the largest being “The Ghost Of Abigail” at 31″ x 19″ (above). Teaser: David Stoupakis – “Red” @ Dorothy Circus Gallery

Some images from David Stoupakis have leaked of him getting ready for his upcoming show at Dorothy Circus Gallery in Rome. Stoupakis will be bringing a new body of work with his special blend of gothic surrealism to Italy at the end of October. Releases: Scott Musgrove – “The Late Fauna of Early North America” Box Set

The ever-so talented, Seattle-based artist Scott Musgrove balances his time retracing forgotten animals of generations past and reincarnating those extinct creatures with masterful precision at the easel. For those hunkering for some Musgrove goodness before his 2010 solo show at Jonathan Levine, we have just the thing. A recently released Limited Edition Box Set of his newest book, entitled “The Late Fauna of Early North America,” gives life to the lost species of yesteryear in super swanky fashion. As we previously mentioned, opening tonight in Seattle is “Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Monster,” Travis Louie’s (interviewed) solo at the esteemed Roq La Rue gallery.  The artist will be in attendance to chat with fans as well as sign his new book “Curiosities” like he did in LA recently and in SDCC.  On display will be his portraiture mix of wild-haired intense women and distinguished monsters in Victorian guise. Releases: Brandi Milne – Humpty Dumpty Plushes

Brandi Milne recently put up these hand-crafter and hand-painted Humpty Dumpty plushes up for sale on her website.  She states that she was inspired by “the character Humpty Dumpty and Alice In Wonderland’s Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum” when creating these.  She is currently hard at work on her next solo show scheduled for June 2010. Charity: Craola x American Cancer Society Auction

For those curious about the piece that Greg “Craola” Simkins (interviewed) was working on at his skatedeck/livepainting event at Gallery 1988 LA (covered) in June, AM has an update for you. The 36″ x 24″ finished piece entitled “The Good Soul” will be auctioned off via Ebay with all proceeds to benefit the American Cancer Society in memory of Jensen’s (owner of g1988) late father, and huge Greg Simkins fan, Lawrence Karp. Releases: Ray Caesar – “French Kiss”

Ray Caesar is one of the rare digital artists out there that gets props when compared to the more traditional artists. This is not surprising to anyone who has ever seen his fantastic work in person like this newest piece from him entitled “French Kiss.” These will be offered as an edition of 20 and measure 32″ x 42″ for those interested. Shawn Barber’s latest solo show, “Tattooed Portraits: Snapshots,” (setup) opened up last weekend at San Francisco’s Shooting Gallery. Featuring a full body of fresh work, Shawn’s use of modern tattooed subjects (who range from Modern Body Art’s Jo Harrison and Blackheart’s Scott Sylvia and Jeff Rassier to MMA fighter/Seventh Son Tattoo’s Luke Stewart and comedian Margaret Cho) translates very well, showing a softer and sometimes even contemplative side of a culture often perceived in precisely the opposite light.
