Last Friday night at La Luz de Jesus, Joe Sorren (featured) unveiled a fresh set of paintings for his When the Rain Comes show. Openings: Nimit Malavia – “Finding Together Again” @ Spoke Art

Last Thursday evening, Spoke Art in San Francisco hosted Nimit Malavia’s solo show entitled Finding Together Again (previewed). The show featured drawings and paintings on paper, depicting reinterpreted myths and religious symbols in his signature flowing style. The first 100 patrons of the show were treated to a free exclusive print, courtesy of the gallery. Check out photos from the evening after the jump…

Ron English – Kinkade Bunny

As this is Easter Sunday, Ron English (featured) has decided to paint something with imagery that has a two-fold tribute. One is obviously for the holiday with his interpretation of the Easter Bunny. As seen in the background for the piece, the piece is also in remembrance of painter Thomas Kinkade and his signature “idyllic cottages and bucolic garden gates” as sad news came of his untimely death just this Friday. Husband and wife duo, Kozyndan, recently completed a two-piece mural for the offices of The Audience in Los Angeles. The vibrant large-scale pieces covered the walls floor to ceiling with imagery that expresses their fascination with the bizarre and their love for the ocean (like their show in NY). Last weekend, the Corey Helford Gallery played host to the opening of the Natalia Fabia (interviewed) curated show Hookers.
