Previews: Joe Sorren – “In A Garden Where” @ Dorothy Circus

Dorothy Circus definitely picked the right artist for their 5th anniversary show in Joe Sorren (featured). The Flagstaff-based artist will be present five new luminous paintings collectively entitled In A Garden Where, with the public opening set for October 8th in Rome. Preview: Yumiko Kayukawa – “Coming Home” @ Roq La Rue

Tonight at Roq La Rue, Japanese artist Yumiko Kayukawa will be introducing a new body of work in her home city entitled Coming Home, which will also be her first solo at the gallery since 2002. The Seattle-based painter has been working to expand her narrative since her show in San Francisco in March (covered) and continues her fascination with her female protagonists and their animal friends presented in complex compositions. Teaser: “Impetus” @ University of Arizona

Tucson will be getting a dose of the New Contemporary Art Movement tomorrow, September 8th, when Impetus opens at the University of Arizona School of Art. It looks like gifted painter Joe Sorren’s (featured) has painted another wall in his home city (see the previous The Veridic Gardens of Effie Leroux), this time in collaboration with Lyle Motley.
