Upcoming: Kris Kuksi – “New Rome” @ Mark Moore Gallery

Tomorrow night (July 9th) in Los Angeles, Mark Moore Gallery will be presenting new sculptural assemblages from Kris Kuksi. Entitled New Rome, the exhibition will be the Kansas-based artist’s second showing with the gallery which will once again highlight his “hybrid style of baroque and rococo that deeply examine the human psyche.” The complex sculptures, sometimes over 10 feet wide, are painstakingly put together using things like figurines, model parts, collectibles, craft parts, and jewelry. Previews: Camille Rose Garcia – “Phantasmacabre” @ Corey Helford Gallery (Part 1)

On July 16th, Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles will be presenting new works from Camille Rose Garcia in their main space. Phantasmacabre will be her first solo in LA since 2011 and will feature her gothic fairytale-like imagery that has become increasingly dark in her recent work. The locally-based artist’s mash up of subject matter is a result of her experiences growing up in Orange County and the associated visits to Disneyland and punk shows as well as vintage cartoons and William Burroughs’ cut-up writings and surrealist film. Openings: Jeremy Fish & Jim Houser – “New Works” @ Thinkspace gallery

On June 25th, Thinkspace Gallery opened New Works, a double solo by artists Jeremy Fish and Jim Houser. Both artist built their careers through their love for drawing, music and skate culture, creating influential and distinctive works and graphics along the way. This show introduces their latest bodies of work. Featuring their signature styles and recognizable concepts, the fresh pieces are the results of years of drawing and keeping up with the subcultures they grew up with. After seeing her wall mural painted for Guzzo Club in Barcelona, we have wondered how Cinta Vidal’s work would translate to the streets. Upcoming: Martin Wittfooth @ Corey Helford Gallery

Fans of Martin Wittfooth (interviewed) will be be happy to know he’s hard at work on his next solo show. Scheduled for October at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles, the exhibition looks to include at least one huge piece, the one seen above with some animals astride a tank. It’s entitled Bacchanal, measures 78″ x 60,” and appears to feature a familiar subject matter as well as palette. Discuss Martin Wittfooth here.

Camilla d’Errico Coastal.com Eyewear Collection

Coastal.com recently released an eyewear collection that Camilla d’Errico designed with Derek Cardigan. The four frames all feature tiny slivers of some of the Vancouver-based artist’s manga-influence imagery, specifically her paintings Xiomara, Water Wheel, Neo New York, and Loveless Bird (two minimalist palettes & two with vibrant and saturated colors).
