Set Up: Mal Kadel – “Stuck On A Wave” @ Merry Karnowsky

After a showing there in 2011, Mel Kadel returns to the Merry Karnowsky Gallery for another exhibition this weekend. Entitled Stuck On A Wave, the new work features her delicate pen strokes and renderings of her characters frolicking in vibrant patterns and interlocking shapes. Preview: “International Women” @ Warrington Museum

With the opening scheduled for March 29th, the Warrington Museum in UK gets ready to host International Women, a group show featuring 15 artists from 10 countries. Curated by Frankie Shea & Tina Ziegler, the lineup includes Catalina Estrada, Elizabeth Mcgrath, Faith 47, Hera, Holly Thoburn, Kukula, Mel Kadel, Miss Van, Pam Glew, Sarah Joncas, Stella Im Hultberg, Swoon, Tara Mcpherson and Xue Wang. Last weekend, MK2 Projects, the special exhibition space of Merry Karnowsky in Los Angeles, hosted a group showing from Shepard Fairey, Deedee Cheriel, Mercedes Helnwein, Mark Whalen / Kill Pixie, Mel Kadel, Travis Millard, Matt Small, Samuel Lowder (FrePrs), Lezley Saar, Aiko Nakagawa, Todd Carpenter and Steven R. Preview: Victor Castillo – “Rebels With a Cause” & Mel Kadel – “Arms Out” @ Merry Karnowsky

This Saturday night, February 5th, the Merry Karnowsky Gallery will play host to two artists with divergent styles at their Los Angeles location. Victor Castillo returns after a showing there last February (covered) with a new body of work featuring his mischievous and perhaps evil children, despite their initially innocent appearance, engaging in various questionable and amoral activities.
