This Saturday sees a new gallery in the city of Oakland open its doors with a group exhibition entitled House Warming. When Athen B. Gallery first announced its arrival on the scene last month with an open letter to artists and the community it sits within, we were intrigued. San Francisco based multi-disciplinary artist Meryl Pataky‘s work first caught our eye a couple of years back with her unique use of neon. Openings: ‘Word Play’ @ Design Matters

A little while back we brought you a preview of some of the work for Word Play, hosted at Design Matters Gallery in Los Angeles. The premise of the exhibition excited us as the curated theme was based around text within art. The group exhibition was curated by Stephanie Chefas, of Platinum Cheese blog fame and features a variety of artists from very different backgrounds but all commonly using text in their work though a range of styles and mediums. If you’re a fan of text used within art, then you’ll be interested in the upcoming exhibit Word Play, hosted at Design Matters Gallery in Los Angeles.
