Upcoming: “Shared Space : KAWS, Karl Wirsun, Tomoo Gokita” @ Newcomb Art Museum of Tulane

Coming up on September 9th, the Newcomb Art Museum of Tulane will be hosting Shared Space : KAWS, Karl Wirsun, Tomoo Gokita. The artists involved are obvious from the title, but the interesting arrangement will see 17 works from KAWS on display, but also seen will be pieces from his personal collection – 26 works by Karl Wirsum including drawings, paintings, and sculptures from 1968 to 2011, as well as 9 faceless portraits and one sculpture by Tomoo Gokita. Upcoming: “Small Indignities” @ Red Truck Gallery

Coming up on September 13th, the Red Truck Gallery in New Orleans will be hosting a group exhibition entitled Small Indignities. Curated by Noah Antieau & Alix Sloan, the show features a fine list of artists including Jessicka Addams, Dan Barry, Ian Berry, Jana Brike, Bryan Cunningham, Jason D’Aquino, Camille Rose Garcia, Tom Haney, Bosko Hrnjak, Marion Peck, Ransom & Mitchell, Chris Roberts-Antieau, Mark Ryden (seen above), Mike Stilkey, Ben Venom, Casey Weldon and John Whipple. Update: Swoon (London & New Orleans)

It looks like Swoon (interviewed) is in London at the moment judging from this piece seen on the streets by the good people at Hooked Blog. The wheatpasted image is modeled after the stunning Thalassa installation she created for the New Orleans Museum of Art back in June and is a marker for her upcoming show at Black Rat Projects next month.
