Faile in Mongolia (Part 1)

Over the years we have followed FAILE to China, Spain, the UK and way too many remote locations to list, but never did we expect to be crossing the seas to a place where the horse runs wild, Buddhism is the law of the land and the beef is no doubt to die for. That’s right ladies and gentleman, FAILE is headed to Ulan Bator, Mongolia, working in collaboration with Mongolian Sculptor, Bat Munkh and Arrested Motion is going to be bringing you all the […]

Openings: Eric Haze x Casio G-Shock – Design Retrospective

Last week, Casio G-Shock hosted a retrospective for legendary New York graffiti artist Eric Haze (featured). To celebrate their 4th collaboration in 15 years, Casio took a different approach to this showing – they worked with Eric to curate an exhibition that showcases their commercial design work over the past 3 decades. Seeing the range of Haze’s creative range from the bat haze logo, collaboration with Keith Haring, bearbricks, bikes and even motorcycles really gave us a deeper appreciation of the dynamic range he possesses. […]

Streets: Barry McGee – Brooklyn (Part II)

We recently gave you a first look at Barry McGee mural that was in progress at Brooklyn’s Mark Morris Dance Group. With the assistance from Colossal Media, the eight story high mural took about a week to finish. Seen from the local streets, this well using Twist’s signature cluster panel paintings was a sight to behold. Check out the details below…. Discuss Barry McGee here.

Openings: Chris Johanson – “Windows” @ Mitchell-Innes & Nash

Chris Johanson has always been known for his bold use of raw materials and exuberant color pallet. Well ladies and gentleman, he has done it again with his latest show titled Windows now showing at Mitchell-Innes & Nash.  This latest show is a slight departure from Johanson’s usual work with less incorporation of figurative illustration and more emphasis on the meditative qualities of art making. Johanson approached this body of work as not only art and sculpture in the literal sense, but with the metaphysical in mind […]

Openings: Todd “REAS” James – “Yield to Temptation” @ The Standard (NY)

Todd James a.k.a. REAS has certainly lured in a good deal of folks into The Standard NYC this past month. REAS has been picking up steam over the years in both the street scene as well as the more structured world of commercial illustration, working with such recording artists as Iggy Pop, the Beastie Boys and Eminem, just to name a few. Most recently, REAS painted up The Standard Gift Shop storefront for his release and signing of his book titled Yield to Temptation, a title we […]

Streets: SABER – “Skytagging” (New York)

Earlier this morning, we gave you a heads up about SABER (interviewed) taking to the skies of New York CIty. Later at approximately 1:30pm he launched his aerial assault on the Big Apple. Utilizing five jets in precision formation, Saber again stated his mind and tagged the atmosphere with his words. Similar to his drop in Los Angeles, there were shout outs to Art Work Rebels (AWR) and Mad Society Kings (MSK), but this time the socially conscious writer used his own money and time to […]

Openings: Bäst – “Germs Tropicana” @ Opera Gallery (NYC)

Last week, the Opera Gallery hosted an opening for a rare solo from Bäst at their New York location entitled Germs Tropicana. The show featured somewhat of a new direction for the Brooklyn-based street artist as he delivered pieces that were dense with his collage-style imagery, some of which were circular in nature. Teeming with his signature pop iconography, they resembled giant petri dishes – hence the title of the show. Along with his collaboration with Greek olive oil brand Eléia, rounding out the exhibition were a series of gun sculptures. Photo credit: Joe Russo for Arrested […]
