AM recently attended the opening of Nick Walker’s (interviewed) exhibition at the Quin Hotel in Midtown New York City. Marking the kick off of the first ever artist in residence for the hotel, the famed UK artist pulled out some great stencil compositions to deck out his paintings. On January 21st (6-9pm), Nick Walker (interviewed) will be opening a solo show at the Quin Hotel in New York. As the hotel’s inaugural artist-in-residence, the British artist already has 15 original pieces for display in their permanent collection. Nick Walker (interviewed) will have a new print entitled The Last Ride on sale on Monday, the 12th October, at 3.30pm DST UK time. The print was inspired by a portrait by Butterfly featuring the UK artist in his signature vandal outfit riding a carousel horse next to the Eiffel Tower during a visit to the French capital. Last week, Nick Walker (interviewed) opened his new show at Above Second Gallery entitled Entropy. If in September, we brought you a look while the Bristol-based street artist was creating new body of work in his studio, so we come full circle now with a look at the artwork hanging in the Hong Kong showspace. Working with Prints on Wood, Nick Walker (interviewed) will have a new print on sale tomorrow, April 3rd (1 pm PST), entitled Painting the Town Red / Hong Kong Street Scene Two. Inspired by his associated trips to Hong Kong, the UK-based artist has placed his signature Vandal character smack dab in some iconic HK urban architecture. Set to land in Paris on March 19th, Nick Walker (interviewed) will be opening a solo show entitled Vicious Beauty at Galerie Brugier-Rigail. Street art fans in the City of Light are certainly no strangers to the work of the Bristol-based artist as the capital city is only a short trip across the Channel, making it easily accessible for the Vandal (examples here & here). A couple weekends ago, Urban Nation continued their ongoing arts program in Berlin with a new show curated by Henrik Haven & Olly Walker entitled CUT IT OUT!.
