Showing: Nicoletta Ceccoli – “Sweet & Low” @ AFA (New York)

Almost two years after her last show in New York, Nicoletta Ceccoli (interviewed) has unveiled new paintings at AFA NYC. Entitled Sweet & Low, the fresh body of work continues the exploration of her delicate female characters in a land of dessert. As seen commonly in the San Marino-based painter and illustrator’s work, the innocence of the setting is balanced by an undercurrent of dark themes seen when her imagery is examined more closely. Discuss Nicoletta Ceccoli here.

San Marino-based painter Nicoletta Ceccoli (interviewed) will be presenting all new works tomorrow night (November 17th) at AFA NYC. Entitled Eye Candy, the collection of paintings on display will focus on the interplay between bitterness and sweetness. Desserts, whether cakes or candy, are generally regarded as positive, happy things, but although depicted by Ceccoli’s delicate hand and rendered in pastels, there are also ways they can cause conflict in us as we fight our appetite and all the ills that come from over indulgence.
