Nuart Festival ’11: Phlegm

Another great curatorial choice for Nuart Festival is rising star Phlegm, who traveled from his home base of Sheffield for this year’s event. For his part, he painted a nice mural on the side of a derelict building featuring his signature affection for all things airborne and also filled an entire room with his creatures and characters in a strange, almost evolutionary, lineup. More photos after the jump thanks to Henrik Haven…

Nuart Festival ’11: Herakut

With the Nuart Festival in full swing in Norway, the next artists to grace the walls of Stavenger are German duo Herakut. The creative blend of Hera’s loose and more abstract elements with Akut’s photorealistic skills is a special aesthetic that can’t be duplicated. They took time to work on a large wall (with the assistance of a mechanical crane) as well as an immersive installation that took over an entire room. More photos after the jump from Henrik Haven.

Nuart Festival ’11: David Choe & DVS1

As we continue our coverage of this year’s Nuart Festival, our attention shifts to a street reunion of sorts between DVS-1 and David Choe (featured).  The last time they met up at the festival in Norway was 2009, where they put up a tremendous amount of collaborative work in a short period of time. This time around, they were no less productive, getting up indoors and out including this entire room they covered from floor to ceiling. More photos from AM photographer Henrik Haven after […]

Nuart Festival ’11: Vhils

Yesterday, we brought you Escif’s contributions to this year’s Nuart Festival. Today, we focus on another great street artist, the Lisbon-based Vhils (filmed) who introduced his unique techniques to his fans in Norway. Not only did he work his magic inside with this double skull chiseling, he also worked on a piece outside on a similar theme. AM photographer Henrik Haven was on hand to document the action.  More after the jump…

Nuart Festival ’11: Escif

Held in Stavenger, Norway once a year, the Nuart Festival has kicked things off this past week as many of the featured artists have arrived. Our first look at the action is with Spanish artist Escif who is part of the lineup for 2011 that also includes Dan Witz, David Choe, Vhils, Herbert Baglione, Lucy McLauchlan, Dolk, Herakut, Tellas, Hyuro, Phlegm, and DVS 1.  You may remember that Escif was just in town for the ______ capitalism? event (covered), but this time spent more time outdoors and in working […]

Teaser: Nuart ’11

The lineup for this year’s Nuart Festival was recently announced with most of the artists participating featured on AM in the past including Dan Witz, David Choe, Vhils, Herbert Baglione, Lucy McLauchlan, Dolk, Herakut, Tellas, Escif, Hyuro, Phlegm, and DVS 1. For 2011, for the annual event held in Stavenger, Norway, the artists will be painting in seven large abandoned tunnels which will form the basis of this year’s show with additional work in the streets around Tou Scene as well. The dates of the […]

Nuart ’10: Vhils & More

It’s time for another update from Stavenger, site of the Nuart Festival. Looks like Vhils is in town now chiseling away at another masterpiece. We had only recently enjoyed his work at the fantastic Eurotrash show and the Viva La Revolucion exhibit so if you have not seen the textures of his work in person, you are missing out. Take a look at the completed M-City piece and a faraway look at the Ericailcane piece after the jump…

Nuart ’10: ROA, EVOL, Alexandros Vasmoulakis, M-City

It’s about time for another update on this year’s Nuart Festival seeing as more and more artists are getting up and around town. Along with this tremendous piece from ROA seen above (probably his largest to date), EVOL, Alexandros Vasmoulakis, and M-City have also been sighted.  Take a look at all the pics after the jump…

Nuart ’10: Dotmasters

After sharing the fantastic Blu x Erica Il Cane collaboration from the Nuart Festival with you, the next mural we want to bring your attention to is the Dotmaster’s piece. Check out the footage above of a nice little timelapse or take a look at some pics after the jump…

Nuart ’10: Blu & Ericailcane

It looks like this year’s Nuart Festival is finally underway in Norway. Blu continues his collaborations with big names, this time with Bologna based Ericailcane on the same building. Together, they take aim like other artists (Os Gemeos, Todd Schorr) at an easy target – the massive oil spill by BP in the Gulf of Mexico. Ironically, Stavanger is currently hosting ONS, one of the world’s largest oil and energy industry conferences. Keep it locked on AM as Vhils, ROA, Dolk, Evol, Alexandros Vasmoulakis, Sten […]
