Armory Week ’14: ADAA Art Show

During Armory Week, one can view some of the most prestigious paintings and storied names in art at the ADAA Art Show. Held annually at the Park Avenue Armory (featured), this smaller fair showcases some significant artistic gems by hosting some of the most elite galleries out there. Taking a quick stroll around is not really an option as almost every booth features neck breaking artwork from older, as well as newer generation notables, such as Rothko, Haring, Condo, Turrell, Calder, Finch, Lewitt, Auerbach, Lichenstein, […]

Armory Week ’14: Scope

One of the satellite fairs we make a point to catch during Armory Week is Scope. Hosting a variety of genres, the event featured a diverse mix of street art, low brow and emerging contemporary art working together as gallerists brought work from artists which you may be familiar with here on AM. One surprise caught at the fair was the appearance of a freight truck door allegedly tagged by Banksy during his high profile artist residency in New York City. It was interesting to catch the trend […]

Armory Week ’14: Armory Art Fair (Part 2)

One of the unique aspect of the Armory Art Show during  Armory Week is the fact that it’s spread out over two piers (92 & 94) on the west side of Manhattan Island with each pier themed differently. Pier 92 housed classic works from the Modern art period. Art from the history books were on display in this focused section of the fair, while the pier 94 housed works from the current contemporary era showing alongside a newly debuted Focus: China area where select gallerists from the […]

From younger emerging artists to household names, we doubt you’ll not find something exciting at this mainstay […]

Armory Week ’14: The Independent

Within the last five years, The Independent has established itself as one of the must-see satellites during Armory Week in New York. The small fair, which launched in 2010, has tended to present the cutting edge of contemporary art, and with emerging art being today’s hot topic, collectors made sure that they got in early to see what the event had to offer. This year’s complement of 50 international galleries did not disappoint, together displaying a strong and challenging selection of artworks across different mediums. And […]

Openings: How & Nosm – “Way Things Are” @ Pace Prints

One of the more memorable gallery exhibitions opening up during Armory Week was at Pace Prints featuring How & Nosm. Entitled Way Things Are, the show from the Spanish born, German raised twins took their urban visual vocabulary to another level. The new body of work comprised of unique works on paper created in partnership with Pace at their storied facilities. Paying homage to the quest for diversity in repetition, the twins took the art of silk screening in different direction with hand painted collage works in signature […]

Armory Week ’14: Volta

One of the satellite fairs we visited first during New York’s Armory Week is Volta. This unique event does not showcase a sampling of a diverse roster of artists like most booths, but instead the invited gallerists select one artist to focus on. This results in a memorable way to keep the viewer’s attention as they run through the aisles focusing on one gallery and discovering a single artist at a time. Photo credit: AK for Arrested Motion.
