Openings: “Abstractions” @ Opera Gallery

AM recently attended the opening of Abstractions at New York’s Opera Gallery. The special group show housed two separate groups of artists. The first was a retrospective from the old school abstract movement from the 1940 to present day. Original works from artists such as Miro, Francis, Soulages, Hartung, Fontana, Arman and Matta were on display. This contrasted with the second group of names from today’s artistic movement like Rostarr, Bast, Ron English, Saber and more who have evolved in their own form of abstraction. […]

AM recently attended a special signing party for the 3D Art Book (previewed) hosted at the Opera Gallery in New York. AM attended the private opening for Colin and Sas Christian’s (interviewed) latest show Sas + Colin at New York’s Opera Gallery. As the title states, the main focus was the wife and husband collaborations which brought their unique talents together for a visually stunning exhibition. Sas utilized her hyper realistic painting styles to bring the futuristic subjects to life, while Colin brought the physical presence with his beautifully detailed fiberglass sculptures. Nick Walker – “TMA New York” @ Opera Gallery (NY)

On Saturday, Nick Walker (interviewed) capped off his NY tour with a special print release of his The Morning After: New York print. The long awaited silkscreen was two years in the making as Nick officially created this image two years ago on the side of the Cooper Hotel. Numerous fans of Mr. Walker queued overnight for their chance cop one of the 100 prints released to public. Openings: Kid Zoom – “This City Will Eat Me Alive” @ Opera (NYC Pop-Up)

AM recently caught the opening night of Kid Zoom’s first ever US solo show This City Will Eat Me Alive. The large pop-up space opened by the Opera Gallery in the the hip meat packing district was a great setting to showcase KZ’s large size paintings. Just as we previewed in our recent studio visit, Kid Zoom utilized his signature spray techniques to create the works that delighted fans who made it out to see this body of work. This Saturday, December 11th (7pm), Kid Zoom is having his first ever US solo at a pop-up space (72 Gansevoort St. New York, NY 10014) in Manhattan’s Meatpacking district.
